My check engine light came on today what does that mean?

The check / service engine light means there is a problem with the performance the engine computer has detected. The flashing light means the problem is serious.
You need to have the engine computer checked for trouble codes to proceed.

Dont drive a car with the light flashing. A flashing check engine light means that something is really wrong and you can damage the engine if you drive it.

TSC is traction controll .If your check engine light is on, you should have the engine codes read. Most part stores will run a check for free which will better pinpoint an exact problem.

A solid check engine light means the ECM, or computer, has detected a fault with a sensor, solenoid, etc. A blinking check engine light means the fault has either temporarily gone away, or been repaired. Stop by Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them scan your OBDII computer in your car. From there, we can further diagnose the fault causing the Check Engine Light.

It is most probably your knock sensor that activated the check engine light.
1.By start off, I presume it means to take off in gear (the vehicle moving).
Start the vehicle and let it idle for about a minute, then with the engine still running pull out the dipstick for the transmission and check your oil level. notice the correct oil level is obtained by looking at the dipstick angled down and follow the solid oil mark from the bottom on the stick to where it is only partially covered in oil, this is your mark.
If it is not on the min. mark or the lowest mark at-least, your ATF oil is way to low and that is why it is taking a long time to start off and seems to be jerking.
2. If the above is not your problem, ask your self when last was my vehicle serviced, spark plugs ect.

There is no P4156 but, there is P1456....it is this:

P1456 EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank)

You either have a cracked hose or an air leak to or on the fuel tank.

the check engine light means that a code has been set. the code will reference a faulty system that must be diagnosed and repaired. sorry for the vagueness, but there are e gads of codes that can cause the rough idling

most aftermarket parts places will scan the car for free. this will give you an idea of where to start.
