You say it won`t start unless primed I take it you have to supply a fuel source. if so check fuel pressure as the pump maybe failing.

SOURCE: 2001 gmc jimmy engine warm but heater blows cold air

Disconnect the heater hoses from the water pump and the intake manifold. Get a compressor and blow out the hose (put the air hose into the the hose that came off the mainfold. then flush the system and replace the antifreeze.

Why does 2001 gmc jimmy won't start unless primed

Poor design of spark plug distributior, moisture builds up and doesn't fire properly. Drill small holes in bottom of plastic holder. And seal with heat resistant sealant. And Change the plugs going from EGR valve. They Wear out. Use fuel cleaner Heet when putting gassing up moisture builds up in tank. I have 2000 jimmy, it eventually solved the problem. Change gas too. Basic maintenance too. ET NY.

I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy 4.3L 4x4. Found out that my catalytic converters are plugged and truck will barely run. My question is my 2001 Jimmy is emission standard to California. That is why it has two cats...

I will suggest if you ever drive it to California, unless you comply with their rules it won't be legal. However if you're a legal resident in another state, abide by their rules u should be ok. Again this is not legal advice, it's a suggestion.
