Why does my envoy smell like gas inside the vehicle

Probably the fan belt needs to be replaced.

We have had check lights for 35 years,no reason
to not know about them or what to do

You do not use any vehicle with a check light or
any dash lights on,they are telling you the vehicle
has system faults, that need to be diagnosed & find
a problem to repair

It shakes,it smells-- but you keep using it,will get
very expensive, if you don't change your ways, when
it comes to motor vehicles

Get it to a dealer or the best local shop you can find

Look under your vehicle as it could be alongside the frame or inside your gas tank.

Fuel injection spider is leaking under the intake manifold. Smell your oil, does it smell like gas? This could cause major damage if it is leaking fuel into the crankcase.

Throttle body has nothing to do with the gasoline, it only regulates incoming air. In order to find the gas leak you will need to remove the air resonator assembly that goes from the air filter to the throttle body. Then you can get a look at the fuel rail and injector hook-ups.

Try a mechanic immediately because this problem can cause severe damages.

Usually the vapor canister - worse when the weather is very hot.
May or may not be normal.
Is the check engine light on ?

Check for gas leak at fuel fill tube that goes into gas tank, these have been known to develop leaks.

burnt or unburnt gas? if burnt gas smell look for bad manifold or manifold to pipe (donut) gasket.
if unburnt smell look for gas line leaks
