By "skips," I'm assuming that you mean it has a misfire.
Check all of the following:

  1. Fuel filter;
  2. Fuel pressure regulator:
  3. Spark plug wires;
  4. Spark plugs;
  5. Fuel injectors;
  6. Coil packs
  7. If there is a CHECK ENGINE light showing, have all codes read and correct all conditions.
  8. If the car sat for more than six months recently, if you live in an area where humidity is high, or if there is any chance of fuel contamination, manually drain ALL FUEL and replace with new. Use FUEL SYSTEM AND FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER every six months.

Problem with 2000 ford taurus fuel pump

If the pump is running but not pumping gas, it's a bad pump or a clogged filter sock in the tank

My Ford Taurus 2001 died while driving it. There was a small pop sound from under the hood before it died. It will restart but runs really really rough and dies again.

Hmmmmmmm.......I doubt your timing chain skipped.
Possible bad coil pack.Wasn't running hot or nearly out of oil?
If it's not a vacuum hose(large one)or fuel pump quitting, I'd say it's an internal engine problem.
Can you get someone to plug a code reader into it? don-ohio

My 1993 taurus stalls out while running down the road it will eventualy start and then runs fine untill the next time

this sounds like it could be 2 different problems. either your fuel pump is bad or the fuel filter is plugged. could also be the filter or (sock) located in the fuel tank connected to your fuel pump. while your driving the pump picks up the trash in the tank until it plugs it . when it stops the trash will settle to the bottom of the tank until the next time.
It could also be a bad coil or module. usually when a module goes bad it doesn't restart. But with the coil, after it gets hot it may quit working until cool.
My bet is on the fuel system.

I have a fuel pressure tester but I don't know how to check it on a 2006 Taurus with the 3.0 12v motor. I think the fuel pump is bad because sometimes the car does not start. I am unable to tell if the...

Located on the fuel rail ( silver or chrome lines holding fuel injectors) you will find a cap at one end that looks like a valve stem cover. When you remove the cover you will find a connector which resembles a tire valve stem. You will connect the fuel pressure tester to this port, and you will need a second person to help. Once connected you will want the helper to turn the key to the on position while watching the gauge. You should see a small pressure rise when the key is cycled from off to on several times. Then with the tester still attached have you helper start the car. You should see a increased pressure around 40PSI. You should check with ford for the proper fuel rail pressure. The gauge should only move about 5 pounds or so while idling.
If you do not have fuel pressure I would first suggest checking the fuel pump relay and it contacts to make sure the relay is working properly. If the relay is working and you still have little pressure the I would change the fuel filter. After that if you still have low pressure I would suggest replacing the pump.

93 Ford Taurus is skipping, has bad gas mileage, uneven acceleration, and looses power really bad. Fuel filter, plugs and wires have been changed out. Tail pipe is really black but will blow your hand off...

Iam only going to guess at this one.
So have it checked out,don't take my word

If your converter is 17 years old,it may be blocked (worn out),thus lack of power.

Black Tailpipe-rich condition or prior ignition issues,before new parts went on.

Really old O2 Sensors.
