You need a charcoal canister and vent control valve.
You also need the EGR solenoid valve (I think it the brown one).
Valve is located in the valley of the V, towards the transmission side of engine.
Do these 1st and reset light. You may have other issues but you have to start here.
SOURCE: won't pass due to emissions
O2 senser usually fail.
anything else fail??? did the inspectionstation tell you what need to be done to pass.??
do you have the print out of the inspection????
any machanic should be able to fix what ever the problem is.

What i did is remove the check engine bulb coz even if you change the knock sensor the light will still go on coz our engine is a bit old.
SOURCE: Clean EGR ports and replace EGR temp sensor.
Test the Temp Sensor. I have a 240sx and apparently these things are notorious for burning out. I am in the midst of replacing them so i can smog. Best idea is to get one at a pick and pull (make sure its good) and throw it on there. Otherwise you will be spending 110 bucks on a brand new one as opposed to 35 which i just got mine for. You may have carbon deposits in your EGR system, but that is common. Too much WILL effect your cars EGR function. You can check for blockage but sticking (try not to laugh) a rubber tube the bottom hose of the EGR and sucking whilst the engine runs. If it starts idling rough or dies, then your system is still clear enough for it to be functioning properly. Realize that this system works off of exhaust fumes, and IS prone to carbon deposits. I paid 170 bucks for a mechanic to tell me i needed to replace some stuff. Otherwise he would graciously only charge me 770 bucks to do it himself.

Have the compression checked....Hook a vacuum guage to the engine...This should give you a good idea of how much life is left in the engine.....
