SOURCE: steering wheel make a noise when turn left

its due to low/no fluid level in the power steering reservoir.Check the fluid in the power steering. If it is low the car will make noise when you turn the wheel. the internal parts gets rubbed hard and noise occurs. refill the fluid and let it reset for some time then try it will get the fluency to move smooth and noise will get stopped. -------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution if helped.thank you for using fixya.

SOURCE: power steering problems with 1997 ford taurus

What! Not likely the pump, if it has fluid. Most likely the steering rack is shot. Have a reman installed and flush the cooler or the new one will fail. Install a FILTRON magnetic filter, in the return line also. Use Mercon or Mercon V Fluid, not auto part store **** and never any sealers. If you want ,you could make up a blend of Lubegard and Mec V. I do all the above,If it isn't like a new car after all that, check out the ball joints , but especially the bearing assy on top of the struts. They could be half your stiffness. What causes these steering racks to fail ,is because, no one changes the fluid every couple years, just like you never flush brake fluid or trans fluid. I made a living in the trans business ,just on Taurus and Chrysler Caravans, for that very reason. Don't you just love neglect?

SOURCE: 2004 f350 power steering problem.

2006 f350 crew 4x4. Replaced p/s pump, booster, put gauges to check pressure? Fluid clean, lifted in air to check steering linkage and turning without load. Still baffled ! I work at a Ford dealer and mechanics said its normal. Thats BS! I replaced the p/s pump so im guessing the screen was new with the pump. I will check for the hell of it. I have a feeling it is suspension under load. The symptom on this truck is not turning when brake applied. Also hard turning when vehicle is on and in park, wont turn.

What could cause steering problems (wheels hard to turn) below speeds of 20 MPH?

will need to know if you have solid front axle or independent suspension with a coil around a strut. If you have a steering shock absorber check that it is working and not bent

Very hard to turn steering wheel

Um... the video didn't demonstrate anything, only showed the steering wheel and the key.

If the engine is running, the tires aren't jammed against solid objects, there's no noise from the pump, the belt is tight, the power steering reservoir is full of fluid, and the steering wheel is still very hard to turn... then I suspect that the power steering pump has simply worn out badly and needs to be replaced.

If its the electronic unit, check the main fuses near the battery, also check the wiring connectors at the powersteering pump for loose or corroded plugs. If alls ok,you will need a diagnostic machine to read out what trouble codes are in the units memory.good luck.
