How do i repair a cv joint for a Saturn Vue 2006

Buy the shaft assembly instead of trying to change the cv joint on your shafts. They aren't much more expensive and will save a ton of time. Remove wheel, brakes, rotors, axle nut. Slip the shaft inward and press out if the hub. Then simply pop it out of the other end. There is a retainer clip on the differential side that springs in and out of place. A prybar or long screw driver helps pop it past the detent.

IF THIS "CLICKING" SOUND IS WHILE TURNING, CHECK BOTH FRONT DRIVESHAFT INNER AND OUTER C.V. JOINT BOOTS. IF TORN, YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A BAD C.V. JOINT

it could actually be a few things, but here are the ones you should check.....front hub bearings, cv axles, and upper or lower ball joints

get a repair manual on CD, about 10 bucks. there are several steps involved and you will need the pictures. assume you have a garage full of mechanic's tools.

CV boot, requires axle disassembly, or you could use an aftermarket, split boot. You MUST replace the lube....

It is often much better to exchange the shaft with a new or rebuilt one. Many vibrations are caused if there is even a minor imperfection in the CV joint.

CLUNK NOISE YOU HEAR IS WORN CV JOINTS.

Doesn't sound like transmission if comming from only right front side. Maybe a wheel bearing or axle , cv joint.
A little suspension work and alignment should cure it.

Most likely you have a problem with your CV or Constant Velocity joints.

Is it a clicking sound ??
If so - could be a cv joint making the noise..
Check your cv boots for cracks, spits or seperation..
Also could be a wheel bearing..

it should come out once you have disconnected:Brakes,strut,ball joint.tire rod end,cv joint!if it is not put the cv joint nut back on until safe enough to give it a tap with hammer to knock back & out shaft this should come as one piece HUB the bearing is pressed in! better to change whole HUB good luck this hopefully helped you out!
