I have this problem if I jump in and start the car too quickly. It will shut off and the security light flashes. Thankfully it never happens when I'm on the road! I think it's related to the seatbelt switch. There's a wire under the driver seat connected to a sensor in the seatbelt buckle that tells the computer when the seatbelt is fastened. I tried spraying WD-40 into the seatbelt buckle to clean it, which helped, but it is still loose and intermittent. When it happens the remote won't do anything to get the car unlocked and started. I just have to wait ten minutes for the security system to reset itself.

My 2007 Toyota noah 1az engine d4 shut down when I accelerate

Any recent work performed? Is the engine light on or flashing? Are any warning lights on or flashing? Hypothetically if your minivan went in for an oil change and the air filter was checked. If the technician accidentally left the related ducting loose. The MAF sensor would received invalid information which could cause the vehicle to stall. Also if the MAF sensor was left loose or unplugged you would have the same symptoms. Both should have triggered the engine light. Please write back with more information or questions. Good Luck.

2005 Suz. Swift The engine light blinks when I am driving, then my car will sputter, and stall completely. I usually can shut the car off and turn it back on and it will run. What's wrong? Thanks!

blinking check engine light means -requires immediate attention the computer found a problem with vehicle that can cause damage if continued to run or drive --some codes will shut down vehicle to a limp mode or the problem can cause shut down ----have code read most auto stores offer this for free the code will give you a start point towards repairing your vehicle

Why does my dashboard lights flash on and off when I break? battery and oil light turn on red before car shuts off. car will restart but shuts off again after driving a short while and repeats.

Have the check engine light scanned for codes related to this problem first. You may have a charging system issue causing low voltage resulting in the lights flashing/stalling.

While driving 2006 impala down the road, car tries to stall lights interior and exterior flash, but car never stalls and regains power immediately?

You have a power wire rubbing the chassis somewhere in the harness that when it slightly touches metal the voltage drops and causes the flickering and will make the computer act up. Finding exactly where the short is occurring will be a tedious and time consuming inspection of the wiring.

Security light flashes

Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it recieves the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hotwire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistantly for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizor". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizor". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally, but not always followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. Remember that the security system controls the security light. If the system is failing, the light may never warn you of the failure. There is a lot of info on this site that you can read up on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My 2004 GMC Envoy all of a sudden started running very rough. Also has a bad smell like rotten eggs(catalytic converter smell but very strong) Very bad performance. Problem?

sounds like cat converter just about completely clogged and the back pressure from it is choking the vehicle causing the cylinder failure --the exhaust cant escape and will kill [stall] the engine--- with it running feel the exhaust coming out if there is barely any flow from tailpipe cat conv has failed [clogged ] and will need replacement -----when check engine light flashes it is to advise that u have a malfunction that needs immediate attention or further damage may occur and or vehicle shut down may occure

2001gmc jimmy starts and stalls security light stays on

The security light has one job, it warns you that there is a "break" or "miscommunication" in your antitheft system. This is why the Jimmy keeps stalling. The antitheft system cuts the power to the injectors (It's thinking it is protecting itself from theft) and the vehicles stalls in 5 seconds or less after starting. They are also known to stall while driving. Followed by the security light. The SECURITY light will either flash or stay on solid. A solid light normally indicates a bad Theft Deterrent Module, this is the brain of the whole system. Go to this link, it has alot of info stuff that should help you out.

Where is the voltage regulator located on the 03 monte carlo have a problem with the security system the gauge for the alt dont not show any voltage the battary light flashes with security light and it...

The security system considers low voltage a threat to the security of the vehicle. MAYBE, just maybe the gauge not reading the voltage correctly is causing the security system to shut you down. 2 options: Fix the gauge and hope that allows the secuiry to work properly OR bypass the security system so it CANT shut you down... The security light is an infamous problem on GM vehicles. They tend to NOT be tied into anything other than the ignition, TDM computer (theft deterrent module), starters or injectors. But anything is possible on new cars. I'll tell you what, bypassing that security system is a gauranteed way to get that car running again. Only takes about an hour as i have done alot of these personallly. This site has tons of info and ive done both different bypasses decribed on this site and they both work. Pending on your vehicle's system.

My security indidcator light is flashing every 2 seconds when my car is shut off. It stops flashing once I turn the vehicle on. How can I get it to stop flashing when the vehicle is off?

Hi,
The security flashing is an indicator that your security system is armed and working.
It helps deter thiefs when they see the flashing light. They know if they try and break in your car the alarms will go off.
It is a good thing the red light is flashing.
Hope this helps ease your mind.

My 2007 tahoe security light came on and now my car wont start. Do you have any idea how to unlock the security? I have tried looking in my manual and no clue

It's the passlock system that is acting up.. I have the same problem at the moment but mines came from disconnecting my stereo system, the power wire sparked and toasted one of the computers. now the important thing is if the security light is flashing or is steady on.. if it is flashing you just have ti reset the security by turning the key to the on posistiona and wait about 10 - 15minutes and let the pass lock reset.. is it is steady on (no flashin):

a steady light means that you could have a Class 2 data circuit problem. It indicates that your "passward" from your key in the "passlock" is not getting sent to the (Vehicles Thieft Deterrent) thats inside your Vehicles Control Module. This shuts down your fuel log or injectors stopping the engine from starting. The vehicle might start, but then stalls after 4 sec or so.
It's like the vehicle thinks it's been stollen. That's too bad, if your light was flashing "and" your cycles were correct the car would have re-leaned the passward and started.
A problem could mean...but not limited to a open, shorted or grounded circuit....or a loose or open connector between these comunicating systems: SIP/PCM/VTD/VCM and perhaps the EBCM.
Security Insturment Panal
PCM - Passlock Control Module
VTD - Vehicle Theift Deterrent
VCM- Vehicle Control Module
EBCM - E Brake Control Module

you may have to have the dealer check and replace / but instead of passlock system you may have the Passkey 3+ system
