SOURCE: No clutch pressure, leaking clutch fluid from

get someone to press the clutch pedal and have someone looking around where you think the leak is. if its around the gearbox it is either the slave cylinder or a pipe.

hope this helps.

SOURCE: transmission shifting problem

You need to get a hold of your local Chevy dealer. There was a bullitin on slide shifting on these years. There is a wire that has to be jumped on the computer to solve this problem. Hopefully it hasn't already ruined the transmission

SOURCE: wont shift into drive

Have you changed the fluid & filter lately? Start there, much cheaper fix than anything else.

Toyota Ipsum is taking long to shift into gear

no year car told. we can not guess that or engine therfe.
it's and automatic transmission, sure.
2 causes.
low ATF fluid , checked only hot and engine at idle per the manual done wrong you will wreck the transmission if overfilled.
main transmission oil pump bad or huge leak out of it.
the Main TC may bad bad too or leaking fluid unseen inside. cause pump pressure to be low
did you not the transmission shop check pump pressure first.
at the test ports for the same.
the transmission needs real service, why not get any USA ASE shop to test it first. then know the truth and not spend useless steps and costs.
some pumps have bottom filter (inside the pan) and can clog to.causing the pump to stall. (or be weak)

it needs transmission service. in a real shop

Ford 3.2 diesel acceleration drop off to an idle speed when pulling hill in M1 gear - I stop vehicle on hill shift to park and back to M1 it throttles as nothing wrong. later does this again.

the rpm limiter will pull back the rpm to limp mode
select low range 1st gear or if automatic select manual 1st gear That will allow higher rpm at low speed

Transmission 2 gear not working

Simple tell you there is a valve inside the transmission, the ends of the valve are respectively throttle control oil pressure, oil pressure and speed when you step on the gas inside the valve throttle pressure increases the transmission oil, pushing through change down to one side after a series of relations between the transmission will be blocked, as the speed of high-speed hydraulic control are on the rise, until after the oil pressure is higher than the throttle inside the valve to the other side through the transmission shift up oil, after a series of relations between the transmission block

Check make sure the throttle cable is not binding inside..I would watch the throttle cable and with the vehicle off mash the throttle several times ,make sure its returning back to position..Also move the throttle under the hood and remove the duct work and make sure the butterfly valve inside the throttle body is not loose from the linkage outside

I just bought a 2001 pontiac grand am se with 99890 miles. I would like to know what rpm is the proper shift point from first to second gear? Mine shifts at like 3000 to 3500 rpm and shifts firmly is that...

Hello, well at what rpm it shifts at of course depends on how hard your pressing the accelerator at that moment,if you floor the accelerator it will shift at higher rpm (red line) but if you take off very slowly it should shift at a much lower rpm....but to answer your question 3000-3500 is a good shifting rpm( if the gauge red lines at 6000-6500 rpm) and firm shifting is a good thing, slow, sluggish and hesitant shifting is a sign of bad things to come from a tranny!! ps keep the engine oil,and transmission oil changed for long life out of your car engine and tranny. good luck and enjoy your new car......yz-maniac.

Sounds like a dirty IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. It is located on the throttle body. Remove it and clean it throughly as well as the throttle body underside as well where a lot of carbon build up is.

However, since it is such a high idle, check for any vacuum leaks. Check your hoses and lines running inside the engine bay, specifically near the intake. Spray some carb cleaner around while the engine is running to see if you can hear or see a leak. Check the intake gasket as well.

Car shakes when it starts and trouble shifting gears

I HAD A FORD FOCUS AND THE PROBLEM WAS A MANIFOLD VACCUM LEAK AT THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS PCV VALVE TO INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS HOSE CAN GET SATURATED WITH OIL AND COLLAPSE AND TEAR CAUSING A NO IDLE AND SHAKING CONDITION. IF THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC IT WILL HAVE TROUBLE SHIFTING BECAUSE OF INCORRECT RPM SIGNAL TO TRANS. CONTROL. ALL IS DUE TO VACCUM LEAK. ONE WAY TO FIND LEAK IS TO USE A SOLUTION OF DISH DETERGENT AND WATER IN A SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY AREA AROUND AND BELOW THROTTLE BODY BELOW AIR CLEANER ASSY. ALSO LOOK FOR HOSE THAT ATTACHES AT MANIFOLD BELOW THROTTLE BODY AND BRANCHES OFF TO PCV VALVE SHOULD BE A "T" GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
