Default is on ... it is for your protection - you paid for it ... why do you want it off? If this is as you say, you have other mechanical problems which should be resolved by your local Ford Dealer. Please discuss this in full detail with your service manager.

I wouldn't really take it over 25 MPH in low, and 45MPH in high. 4 wheel drive is for in times of poor traction and shouldn't really be used all the time. It is a supplement. Mind that if your truck is a manual your shifting will be need quite often. Also, don't use on dry pavement, or while making tight turns, This will damage the locking front hubs. TCS stands for Traction Control System.
