The service engine soon light code says that there is a problem with the Camshaft Sensor. I need to know where it is located on the engine. This is a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country LXI. I do know that it needs to be replaced soon. This light came on after changing the head gaskets
Well the sensor should be on the drivers side just under the valve cover and it looks like a circle with a plug in it.I think your problem though is the timing belt is off a tooth it will run fine but being a tooth off will keep that light on.
i love posts that say drivers side is that RHD or LHD ??? the word LEFT works in USA and in UK . see? and poster, did you not see the photo? its the REAL THING. not guessed. and the 2.4L is way different, so you are guessing too. mike, there is no belt on a 3.8 or 3.3L, its a chain, and will not be a tooth off, but can be old and slack there are checks for that, (easy) ask.
but forget all that, hey NEVER said what engine. so.... all this gussing is nuts
that is the 3.8L chain, next 2.4L its a DOHC, engine,
totally different
on the 2.4liter the cam is on the right cam rear., Right means sitting in the drivers seat, works in every country that statement.
now you can see all parts in car, no more guessing, see?

dont fell bad, 99% of posters, posting engine questions, dont even know whats under the hood. but is a KEY fact.
2.4L, 3.3l or 3.8L?
the most common are
ill guess, the 3.8L
fsm quote.
On 3.3L and 3.8L engines, the camshaft position sensor mounts to the top of the timing case cover, in which the bottom of the sensor is positioned above the camshaft sprocket.
