Why does my 2003 gmc sonoma overheat?

ENGINE RUNS HOT AND STOPS. STARTS AND RUNS FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AND STOPS AGAIN.I DON,T SEE ANY LEAKS.IF I LET IT SIT AND COOL OFF I GO THROUGH THE SAME THING AGAIN.

SOURCE: Truck is running hot and started to overheat

is the water light showing if it is either you cooling pipe is got a leek or the water pump is nackerd and needing renewed

there are 2 coolant sensors one for gauge and one for ecm

SOURCE: all of a sudden I am getting an overheat

Take the thermostat out and put it in a small pot and heat it on the stove top watching to see if it open when it gets hot. If it hasn't opened all the way by the time it boils its bad

You have high return rates on one of the injectors most likely. The test run by a dealer is the fuel return rate test. It checks the injectors return flow and tells which ones are leaking fuel under pressure.

Car engine idles really high then really low, why?

My 2002 Pontiac Montana gets to hot in a short distance. I don't know what it is I have an idea it's either the thermostat or a blown head gasket not sure which one. So which one is it?
You would need to figure out if the thermostat is stuck closed, or not.
Most mechanics would either replace it or take it out and run the engine without it as a test. If the engine still overheats with the thermostat out, it could be a faulty water pump, restriction in the radiator, or other problems.
A blown head gasket should leak coolant out on the ground or into the engine.

What would cause a fuel pump to overheat
When the fuel pump is short circuit it will start going bad and thus gets hot. Replace witha brand new one. It will not cost much.
