SOURCE: 5 speed manual transmission. reverse will not engage
I had the same problem. A spring in the gear change selector had broken making it impossible to get into reverse and very difficult into first to fifth. Simple repair. Might be similar to your problem
SOURCE: Manual transmission clutch will engage
There are two possibilities to consider:
You didn't mention a fluid leak, so that would eliminate the obvious cause of a leaking pipe. However, check for leaks around the master cylinder (on the firewall) and at the front of the engine by the clutch itself. This would indicate which of the two might be the problem, If they haven't been replaced in many years, it's probably sensible to replace both at once. The slave cylinder can be replaced without removing the engine. If you have ABS, you'll likely need to loosen/remove the alternator.
Good luck!

CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE AND BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID FUSE.IF BOTH FUSES ARE GOOD.PROBLEM IS THE BRAKE SWITCH FAULTY OR BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID IS FAULTY.

Sounds like your starter motor is bad. Is the starter motor spinning?
