2000 Beetle AC / Heater not blowing, light out

The rcirculate button sounds like it wants to control the doors when pushed. No other lights will come on. AC ran by trickling out cold air until 3 weeks ago. Fuses checked. Blower Motor looks OK. Any suggestions?

Having issues with a/c heater module and electrical issues. Please see below for details.

The missing part and the most importance fact is

year make model

Flashing lights when trying to access AC is normally that the AC Controls are not responding. On my vehicle, pressing the AC button a second time will fix it.

On all modern cars the AC and Heating is controlled by the Body Control Module. It sounds like you have a communication issue on the computer network. The only way to diagnose it to take it to an auto electrician who will connect it to a pro grade scan tool which scans and tests all the modules and sensors and the computer network connecting them all. You can't fix problems like yours by guesswork.

Sounds like you have had a lot of fun with this rig
#1 - replace the stereo - that's cheaper than sending yours out for repair.
#2 - Make sure your cooling system is full. You can get an air lock/bubble in the heater core that is really difficult to resolve sometimes. When the cooling system starts to get low on coolant - the heater core is the first to get starved. Physically feel the temperature of the heater hoses at the firewall - they should both be hot - if one is hot and the other not - there is a restriction in the heater core. If neither are hot - your coolant level is probably low. With the engine running you can pinch the upper radiator hose which should force flow through the heater core. Try those things - if you get sufficient heat from other modes - i.e. DEF VENT then your coolant level is not an issue. your controls are your problem - and is this a Auto Temp control system (digital) or manual?
#3 sounds like the ground circuit for Pass side Brake light is not sufficient. Works OK until the park light is turned on. I presume a bulb from the drivers side that worked ok doesn't on the pass side (known good bulb) - the ground circuit needs repair.
#4 the illumination issue - Dash lights/buttons/switches - all those should illuminate together (dimmer controlled)
Radio buttons - refer to #1
Console symbols - wiring connections for the bulbs
Dome lights working ok from rear doors and not the front - probably issues with the front door switches
that's a lot of different things for one car

My 2000 VW Beetle's Ac stopped working. It doesnt blow any air out at all. Also the break light and the ABS lights are on. The ABS came on after the breaks got changed. The Break light is blinking and...

Sounds like you have some electrical gremlins that have moved in...

Since the fan does not even come on, and the fuses keep blowing. It sounds like the resistor pack for the blower motor could have failed, or a wire is shorted somewhere.

The ABS could simply be a wire, or sensor that was carelessly overlooked to be plugged back in when the breaks were done. Or it could be more serious.

The control for the AC/Heater door isn't working. To have AC the door has to close so that the hot air is not being blown into the car. When this door is closed it allows the cool air to pass through. This is either controled by vacuum or a ele. switch

Heater\AC no air in front 05 suburban

ase mechanic:

Sounds like a problem with the front blower motor. there is a blower motor resistor for the front blower motor that controls the speed of the blower and tends to go bad or fry out the blower motor. thats the most likely scenerio since you stated the control head was lighting up and responded to button changes.

Electrical problems with trunk gas door and ac

the first problem with you fuel door is most likely the rear actuating motor or cable. remove the right rear trunk lining, and loosen the 2 silver phillips head screws, and remove the actuating motor. i would suggest replacing both the motor and the cable, as both of these parts have superceeded to a new improved part. the AC problem is caused by a faulty fan control unit. this part not only receives the switch signal and processes the information to control the compressor, but also controls the fans, their speed, the compressor, and the hi/lo pressure switch. both of these parts a a common problem for the beetle.
