Why would engine be lurching and emmiting white smoke after replacing fuel pump, fuel filter andignition module?

I've replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and ignition module. The motor is still lurching and stalling upon stopping some times and running rough at times also. Also now it emits white smoke when starting or reving motor. I can hear the fuel pump working when I turn key so why is it still having a problem. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Happens all the time with 70's 80's and 90's GMC trucks. Replace the control module in the distributor cap.

SOURCE: 1995 GMC Sierra 5.7 liter stalls and is hard

even though parts are new they also come with defects so it sounds as if when you turn the key you hear it working and other times not at all hmmm connections are tight ? could be faulty fuel pump or relay .

SOURCE: 1995 sarari van stalls. replaced fuel pump

when you shut the truck off is/was there a swishing/bubbling noise coming from the tank?

Theres an orange rubber in the fuel tank that connects the fuel pump to the sender lines. if that rubber is torn you may get it to run but not stay running for more than a short period of time.

My 1995 4m40 mitsubishi pajero has its turbo charge seized and emmiting black smoke,it is poweless but the deisel in the fuel tank turns black in colour and can stop whilst driving.I cleaned the tank and...

The engine is not designed to run without the turbo. Fuel pump recirculates fuel to the tank to control pressure while driving and engine is running so poorly fuel is being diluted. Fix the turbo.

95 Park Avenue Ultra dies for no reason I can find, I've replaced the crank sensor, cam ssensor, spark module, fuel filter, I've had the injectors tested, fuel pump tested, plugs & wires t

As you have probably figured out by now, you will have to treat it as a no start and troubleshoot it when it fails to start. Until you figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel to the injectors when the engine dies you have no direction to go in.

My 1999 crown vic is still not building fuel pressure. I've changed the fuel pump and fuel pump relay still not building enough pressure. What else can i try

check or replace fuel pressure regulator. symtoms are. lack of fuel pressure, excessive fuel pressure, black smoke and engine running rich, instant drop of fuel pressure, when turned off delay building back up sufficient fuel pressure. also be sure fuel filter is not plugged. check the filter first !!

My 1989 ford f250 7.3 diesel runs good up to 2000 rpms at which time it starts bogging down and throwing white smoke out can you tell me if this is a fuel injection problem?

Injectors would likely have an effect on the engine's running across the spectrum. The white smoke is unburned fuel. You could have a problem with the Injector Control Module but it sounds almost like a lack of compression.

When first started black smoke comes out exhaust pipe,, what could this be

Black smoke is burning oil. Blue smoke is usually transmission fluid due to a leaking modulator valve in the older auto transmission. White smoke is due to water getting in to a cylinder from a bad gasket, cracked block or a cracked head. Black smoke from engines on starting and/or running tends to mean there is fuel leaking into the engine, or the fuel mix is incorrect and not atomised correctly. the main causes are normally a nakered air filter that isnt letting enough clean air into the engine to mix. a blocked fuel filter, which is either not letting enough fuel in, or in some cases, a faulty fuel filter which is letting too much fuel into the engine, and causing black smoke due to excess burning. Black smoke is a fuel/air mixture suggestion problems with injection or carbonation. Cause of black smoke is due to running rich in the fuel air mix. Check the oil,the oil leak, the air filter, the fuel pump and fuel filter to confirm the fault.
