SOURCE: rear diff leak on yoke of 2000 explorer
Unless you are 'mud-running' this truck, you have more probs than the seal! And if it hasn't been topped up???? OMG The oil plug is on the front right side near the yoke. Your best bet is to get a complete rear axel from a wrecker. It will cost way too much to have bearings and what not replaced! Your best bet is to buy it installed. My quess is under $200! remove the shock (be careful shock mounting stud is welded to driver side axle tube and will sometimes break off) lower the axle tube (arm) bolt should come out from the top.
