SOURCE: where is the oil sending unit on a 1996 ford

On 3.0L OHV engines, the oil pressure sensor is located on the left side of the engine block above the flywheel. On 3.0L DOHC engines the sensor is located on the left side of the engine block above the oil filter. On 3.4L DOHC engines the sensor is screwed into the oil filter adapter. The oil pressure sensor operates the oil pressure warning lamp.

1995 ford explorer oil pressure gauge not working

There is a sending unit that is probably bad. It is located, in most cases, near the oil filter. It is a $10 part and simply screws in and a wire hooks to it.

No oil pressure

It could be the sending unit, but it could also be the high pressure bypass on the oil pump itself, the sending unit will be on the side of the motor usually close to the oil filter.

Where is the oil pressure switch

The sending unit is going to be down by the oil filter. It should have some wires running to it. If you don't have enough room to access the sending unit easily then you can purchase a special socket to extract the old sending unit. Good luck.
