Drain line is plugged up getting bad order from vents
SOURCE: i need to drain my radiator on a 2002 jeep grand cherokee
On many of these, the drain is on the right front of the radiator, sometimes requiring removal of a small panel in the grille or the entire grille. The ones I've serviced, after geting to the drain I've found that it dosen't turn. It is far easier to ignore the drain altogether and remove the lower hose at the radiator. Don't do this on a hot engine unless you like hot antifreeze baths! (I don't)
Good luck

The crankshaft position sensor was seriously problematic in those old jeeps. It's located towards the top of the bell housing slightly to the driver's side I think.
SOURCE: Air conditioning in 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee is
If the air going through the evaporator at 50mph is getting cold then it's logical to assume that if the fan is not operating, the only way air can get into the vehicle is through the ac, but it cannot be blown in because that's the fan's job.
If you unplugged the fan motor in your house air conditioner but left everything else intact, the only cold air going into the house would be if there was a high wind blowing through the unit.from outside. (in reality that would not really work but the concept is correct)
Once the fan problem has been corrected, you may need a bit more freon added to the system but I recommend you have it checked by a professional using the proper gauges.
I am not going to post this as a "fix" only because I believe that you won't accept the validity of what I've told you.
But, Good luck anyhow!

did the mechanic check your wires? My ford had a misfire in the #3 and it was a spark plug wire. I have found a misfire can be caused by an assortment of things. Has he ruled out other cheaper fixes? You should get a second opinion, without mentioning the first mechanics prognosis. Then if answer is same thats probably your problem.
