SOURCE: service engine light 2002 saturn sl2 1.9 soc automatic
It could be any of the sensors. Take it to any auto parts store that runs the diagnostic computer on it for free and do that. More than likely it will be one of those sensors. I had a oldsmobile that i had them check and it ended up being the MAF sensor. there are many sensors connected with the service engine light.

SOURCE: my saturn sl2 is shifting hard on his bad days
Yes, with another transmission...they have a problem with the valve body going bad. Go with a junk yard trany. Just make sure that it has low mileage. $700 is a ball park figure...$700 for labor.
SOURCE: How do I replace the serpentine belt on my 2002
Take off, or loosen the front half of the wheel well. There will be 3 screws (7mm) and two trim clips There are two clips on the plastic piece just under the belt. Take those out, and you will have full access to the belt and the tensioner. The tensioner nut (so to speak) is 9/16, and cannot be accessed with a socket. Must use a wrench with a long handle. At that point, hook the wrench to the nut and turn it clockwise to loosen. Remove the belt, and replace it with a new one
