I have a 1999 Oldsmobile intrigue, the instrument cluster and fog lamps quit working at the same time. At first it was intermittenent, I would disconnect the battery and reconnect it and it would work again for a brief time. Now they don't work at all. What could it be?

Without testing the electrical circuit's we'd only be guessing . Looking at wiring diagrams to see if the instrument cluster & fog lamps share a common ground or power supply would be a good first step. Do you know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohmmeter to test electrical circuit's ? Do you know how electrical circuits work ? Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know
Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model an engine . Under system click on lighting ,then under subsystem click fog lamps . Check power an ground supply . Then under subsystem click instrument cluster ,check where it's power an ground is . Use voltmeter an test the circuit's . Looking at the wiring diagrams i don't see anything these too have in common , power or ground . All you can do is test the circuit's . Find what's missing .

SOURCE: Fuel gauge stuck behind peg at FULL mark

one thing you can try is to get one of those magnetic pick up tools at a parts store.......prefferably one with a large magnet...and put a cloth around the end of it so you dont scratch the plastic on you gauges and try to pull it back to where it belongs,i have done this a few times with good results, hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thanks for the tip. A strong magnet to the right side of the instrument cluster was used to reset the needle clockwise to its proper position."

The headlights on 97 pontiac sunfire have no power to them. It looks like the ignition has been replaced and the security has been tripped. causing car to pull less power, not run right. Any ideas

Yea, take it to a qualified repair shop ! Could be anything , and with out doing some test couldn't make a suggestions .
Headlights/Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Circuit Description
The instrument cluster controls the headlamp systems that include daytime running lamps (DRL). The system allows the headlamps to operate at a reduced intensity when all of the following conditions apply:
• The engine is running.
• The transaxle is not in the PARK position.
• The normal headlamps are not on.
The instrument cluster turns the DRL system on by grounding CKT 592, thereby energizing the DRL relay. This action allows a reduced voltage of 6 volts to flow across the headlamps. If the vehicle has the optional fog lamps, the fog lamp relay will also be energized. The park lamps will turn on and the fog lamps will operate normally. When the headlamp switch is turned to the ON position, the instrument cluster allows normal headlamp operation.
The instrument cluster also has an input from the park brake. If the park brake is in the ON position, the DRL will remain disabled until the park brake is placed in the OFF position. On vehicles with an automatic transaxle, the instrument cluster will disable the DRL until the transaxle has been taken out of the PARK position.
