A/c works great at cooler temps outside when its hot out it will work for a short time going down the road then it will blow hot air i have put a can of 134a in it but its the same thing, all check fuse ok,power at a/c relay ok but when a/c stop working it has no power to relay ????
Hey have u tried this manuals site big-manuals.com ? Like manuals are great and for automobile problems it's suggested that manuals should be referred. . I personally like big-manuals.com it's a great website and very helpful.. u must try it once
Hi buddy
Why don't u try a manual.. this problem can easily be looked up there. And the website.. reliable-store.com has all kinds of custom made manuals so you will definitely find a solution there.. try it once
My personal suggestion
would be to go for these repair catalogs. I know this website www.reliable-store.com that i used to buy them from, and they sold online it was very good manual. Go ahead, I bet.

get the a/c condensor recharged with a freon substitute, i use "red-tek 12a refrigerant", it is much safer than freon and is ozone friendly.
SOURCE: ac not working, blows hot air only. Recharged
Check the evaporator coil by sniffing the vents, floor is best, with your tester.
SOURCE: Rear air condition is not working, only the front
No there is only one low and one high side service ports. You have a bad expansion valve on the rear a\c unit.To properly replace the valve, you must first recover the freon from the system. Then remove the cover over the rear unit. Then from under the vehicle remove the two a/c lines from the unit. Then remove mounting bolts and remove rear unit from vehicle. Then you remove the screws that hold the two halves of the case together. You will now see the expansion valve Use extreme care when removing the fittings from the valve. It is very easy to kink the copper lines.Reinstall in reverse order.Be sure to evacuate the system before recharging.

HI. Here is a complete check list that will help you trouble shot thsi issue. You will find the problem in one or more of these areas stated below.
1. Check Drive Belts - The air conditioner utilizes a drive belt that supplies power to rotate the compressor, which is basically a refrigerant pump. If the belt fails the compressor has nothing to drive it, inspect and replace as needed to restore operation. If belt is intact proceed to the next step.
2. Check for Compressor Clutch Engagement - Turn the air conditioner to the "on" position and set controls to the coldest setting. Start the engine and allow to idle. Then open the hood and inspect the clutch at the front of the compressor, is it turning? "Engaged" if so, the system has enough refrigerant to activate. If the system is low on refrigerant it will not work properly. In this case an air conditioner recharge kit is needed to recharge the system. If the system is low on refrigerant it could cycle on and off, making a ticking noise. If the compressor clutch is not turning proceed to next step.
3. Inspect for Refrigerant Leaks - If the system has a large leak and no refrigerant remains it will not activate. First test system for a static pressure charge, with the engine off attach an ac gauge to the low side pressure port and check the state of charge. Depending on outside temperature there should be between 50 psi and 80 psi. (Cool and warm). A refrigerant leak detector is needed to inspect for leak, but if you do not have a leak detector there is an alternative method. The air conditioner system is designed to run with oil suspended in the refrigerant to lubricate the system. Check for oily residue outside the system by inspecting all hoses, compressor, condenser, evaporator or receiver drier and replace any component that has failed.
4. Inspect Fuses - Check under dash panel and under hood power distribution center. Replace failed fuses as needed, recheck system. If the new fuse fails when reinstalled a short circuit is present and requires diagnosing with a wiring schematic, follow circuits to locate short, repair as needed and recheck system.
5. Check Temperature Control Vents - The vents inside your car are controlled by a cable, electrical servo or vacuum servo. If the temperature blend door is not functioning properly it will cause warm air from the heater to exit the vents. To check this start the car and allow the engine idle, next turn the blower motor speed on low, switch the temperature control from warm to cold while your ear is close to the vents. You should hear the door move inside the heater box as it swings from open to close. If not, insect for a vacuum leak or a shorted motor in the servo, repair the leak or replace the servo motor.

I have 2 ideas.
Idea 1: The clutch in your ac compressor could be out.
Idea 2: The ac compressor isn't getting any power. Use test lights on the connectors to the ac compressor to make sure it is getting power. (Test this before trying to change the ac compressor. It is way cheaper to fix a connection than to change the compressor.)
NOTE: ac compressor clutch is not available seperately for this car at discount auto parts stores.

On the 1999-2000-2001 and other years, the BLEND door actuator will strip out the connector piece and even break it,( the blend door is responsible for letting hot or warm air , or cold air in the vents depending on the temperature control settings) it is located center of the dash at the very bottom where the carpet goes under the dash, get on the right side of the truck, pull back the carpet pull out a small section of foam, and you will see the actuator with a plug going into it,, start the truck, and feel between the actuator and the case or look you will see a metal small tube that turns one way or the other, watch it slowly move as you go from hot to cold, it should stay still after moving completly to one side, usually the plastic piece that joins them together is broken and it will just keep spinning, making it get hot as you drive it just takes a while to turn all the way around, it will be cold then after a minute get warm ,them back again.it is tuff to get the screws out but if you but a cheap fully flexible extension, the kind you can put a socket on it looks like a long spring bends easy, you can get a screw bit for the screws and go under there , its tuff your first time but very do able, the plastic piece is available separate or you can buy a steel one from HEATER TREATER those wont break, good luck and you can do this.
