Why is Mazda Miata stumbling and missing after reaching closed loop?

Check compression. After spark and fuel, compression is next on older cars.

Mazda MX5 Year 2000, started today sounds like a tractor, very little power. No smell, sound coming from engine area, managed to get 30mph didn't try any harder. What could be the problem please?

You may have lost (went bad) a coil pack which feeds ignition fire to two of the four cylinders. Leaving it to run only on 2 will sound terrible, run rough, and have little power.

All MX-5's are MIATA'S. the coil pack may be bad. 3000 rpms at 20mph, sounds like the trans is slipping if it was an automatic trans. it helps when you tell EVERYTHING about the car, like what trans is has, ect.

Mazda Miata: Replaced the coil pack because of misfires, that fixed misfires. Now the check Engine light comes on and the code was related to Cat Convertor. The car get hot around the console and gear...

The cat converter was trying to burn all of the excess fuel that was being sent out of the exhaust due to the misfire, got way to hot and melted the inside of the cat. I experimented with this while in tech school. You can burn up a cat in about 15 minutes at around 3000 rpm with a single cylinder misfire. I also work at a shop that specializes in miatas, and have seen this before. Get a new catalytic converter.

Misfire on my 2000 mazda mx5

Change the plugs and plug wires first. If still a problem, troubleshoot the coil packs that the plug wires fit into, located at the back of the engine.
