SOURCE: 1997 Toyota land cruiser prado Rz compass bearing, temperature setting, etc.

I've been resetting pajero's compasses but try to get to an area where you can do 360 degrees turns (empty car parks, ) press the reset button and make 2 complete 360 turns slowly and normally this should set the compass bearing.

SOURCE: need to torque cylinder head on a toyota land

Refer to the diagram and torque bolts in sequence as shown in 3 passes. Bolt thread should be lightly oiled. Bolt holes clean of dirt.

1st pass : 39 N.m. (29ft lb)
Make a mark on the bolt with white-out/chalk or similar in the forward facing edge of the bolt.(see diagram)

2nd pass : turn bolt through 90 degrees
3rd pass : turn bolt through a further 90 degrees.
Using a mark on the bolt makes it easier to keep track of where in the sequence you are.

No as it is part of the car not the caravan. The weight is minimal anyway. You are measuring hitch weight, the amount of force exerted downwards (hopefully) on the rear of the vehicle.

My Toyota Prado 1999 model is jumping out of 1st gear.

check that the gear lever is not restricted in the movement and that the pivot pin in the tower for the lever is tight as this will not allow full engagement of the gear. Other reasons for gear disengagement are misalignment of the bell housing to rear of the motor, failing clutch shaft bearing, failing spigot needle roller bearings between the input shaft and the main shaft, tapered lugs on the syncro dog and gears , and worn extension housing bush or if it has a transfer case the a failing bearing between the gear box and transfer case.

Cylinder head bolts:
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in criss cross manner inside out, in four stages as under:
Stage 1. Torque the bolts up to 17 Nm.
Stage 2. 34 Nm.
Stage 3. Rotate all the bolts 90 degrees.
Stage 4. Finally rotate all the bolts further 90 degrees.

Main Bearings:
Tighten the main bearing bolts in two stages, as under:
Stage 1. 61 Nm.
Stage 2. Rotate the bolts further 90 degrees.

Big end bearings:
Tighten the big end bolt of connecting rods in two stages as under:
Stage 1. 25 Nm.
Stage 2. Rotate the bolts further 90 degrees.

How do you remove the shockers of a toyota prado

Hi Gloria, You have one cr*%y job ahead of you. The front shocks must be disconnected top and bottom and then compressed fully inside the coil springs before they can be removed from the opening up top. Even then removing them is a juggling game when you can use plenty of the words designed for doing this kind of job. Watch out for crushed fingers and broken fingernails. Regards John

1997 RAV 5th gear drops into neutral when gas throttle is released

If it only drops out on the over run only then its due to either the selector ball and spring on the selector shaft (spring gone weak )., or 5th gear scrinco worn out and needs replacing or the spigot shaft (input shaft) bearing worn allowing the shaft to move forward 3mm on over run, or a worn clutch plate can help cause the same problem.
THE ANSWER IS gear box out ,strip out and rebuild and both bearings on spigot shaft, and check clutch plate springs for wear.

1999 2.0L TD Suzuki vitara the clutch pedal was low and grumpy when pressed and hard to select 1st or reverse. plenty of movement in clutch slave arm and no fluid leaks to be seen.so i removed the gearbox...

Pilot bearing (pressed into flywheel) or release bearing (presses against clutch pressure plate)?
Regardless, the repair is the same. Replace clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing & pilot bearing. Most flywheels are available or as part of a complete kit, minimum is to inspect & resurface flywheel when replacing clutch assymbly.
