Ihad in shop to get engine looked at--I was told would have to tear engine apart to find out problem with #4 cylinder--I have extended warranty--but was told exclusions to my insurance-- if not covered by insurance--I would be liable for $2600.00 in repairs--what other steps could I follow to find out what's wrong with #4 cylinder??--Will this left unchecked o further engine damage??
A misfire could be a sign of a problem coming up. You might not notice anything major until the cylinder stops working all together. However, other that it sounding terrible, and a loss of power and some shaking effects, it's not terrible.
In other words, if it happens, it's time to get it to a shop now, instead of later.
Yet, it all depends on why it's misfiring. If there is coolant leaking into the engine cylinder, it's a much larger problem. I would suggest taking it to another shop for a second opinion. Sometimes it's just a simple fix.
Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. There is no need to start the car.
Press the button located in the center of the instrument cluster ONCE. The display should now read "OIL LIFE" instead of vehicle mileage.
