I have a 2001 saturn sl1 and the check engine light came on today. When I took the car in this afternoon the codes were p0341, p0442, p1599, and p1620. I tried replacing the gas cap, the car is not overheating/dying, no funny noises, and the gas mileage is fine. I'm at a loss as to what could have caused all these codes at once.

SOURCE: my car wont start my mechanic put it on machine

ok now for starters, we will go with the most probable:P0341 crank position sensor. chances are it needs to be replaced. 2nd your check engine light has probably been on for a while right?! the P0133 is an o2 sensor code and would probably be good maintenance(but get it to run first. 3rd P1599 refers to it stalling out which if it died while running would most likely trigger this. and last but not least either your coolant level switch is faulty or you really do have low coolant. let me know.

Having codes read is a waste of time, if you don't understand
or work on vehicles

You need a shop to properly diagnose it,you know that

Any codes can be Googled to look them up

Type: OBD & the code

Codes have little to do with replacing parts

No parts get replaced until they are tested & fail a test

How to reset computer on Saturn 2001 LS - did not pass air pollution test. Three codes came up P0133, P0341, P0442. The car runs fine. Check engine light is on.

Resetting the computer isnt going to fix anything. Get it repaired. If you reset it, it still will not pass if the monitors have not run and passed.

Hi, I took my 02 saturn to see why it was idling rough and misfiring, they told me I had a code of p1599. can you tell me what I need to buy to fix this problem? my ca has never stalled.

p1599 refers to TPS (throttle position sensor) Stop by a local parts store (Advance, Autozone, etc) and have them do a free fault scan for you.

I have a 2001 Saturn SL2 and I have a code that does not make any sense to my mechanic. PO341. Also PO442. Any help or suggestions?????

Hello ihatethiscom: My name is Roger and I will help you. The code p0341 Is for the camshaft position sensor There are several things that can cause the code. A intermittent engine misfire to a camshaft sensor problem. I always look for the simple problems first. A lot of people look at the sensor as being the problem not always so. As for the code p0442 this is a fuel evaporator system problem. This has several options when it comes to finding a solution. As I said try to look for the simple solution. A loose fuel cap can set this code also. A dirty fuel vapor canister or a cracked vapor line could cause the code also. What the code is saying is there is a small vacuum leak to the fuel tank. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for using Fix YA. Roger

02 Saturn SL1

Replacing plugs and wires is the correct soultion for a p0341 on an S-car. However the trans shifting hard is another common problem that the s-cars have which is your valve body on your transmission and the Input shaft nut will eventually need to be replaced as the problem will get worse. as far as the Ignition module. It is actually called an Ignition Control Module. Maybe they were saying controller and referring to that. I hope this helps.
