2005 chevy avalanche when first starting the truck with in minute temp gauge shows quarter reading the longer the truck on temp continue to rise & so does the reservoir after few minutes of running antifreeze pump out of reservoir. Water pump & thermostat have been change. The faster you accelerate the faster antifreeze pours out & the temp gauge rises.
You need to start this when it's cool not hot take your radiator cap off start the engine start adding water into the radiator keep checking it with your finger and keep adding when the water turns warm to the touch keep adding water if it's taking it and squeeze your upper radiator hose continuously to burp out the air keep adding water try that and see how it works

Almost sounds like the same symptons as my van. Turns out the guage was not the problem. The van was in fact running hot because the electric radiator fans were not kicking in when the engine was hot. I replaced the relay switches for the fans. your fan is the problem...it's not turning fast enough to cool the engine off. I need more info on what type of fan you have....elec fan or a clutch fan?

could be one of the two radiator hoses. There are also two hoses in back that go to the heater core. All of these connections attach to plastic nozzles on the radiator and also the ones on the heater core are plastic and can crack. Also check radiator condensor for leaks.

Sounds like you have a faulty head gasket or maybe a cracked head.This can cause overheating and the check engine light to come on.The code for the o2 sensor is probably caused by coolant getting into the exhaust system and coating the sensor.The coolant fan may work but it cannot remove enough heat from the rad to make the engine cool off.Try some engine coolant stop leak to see if it will help.This maybe only a temperary fix.Let me know if you need more.MOE
