On a ford all the sensors have a wire that heats them you have upstream sensors up by the engine and downstream sensors located on or before the converter.

2008 Ford Fusion 2.3. Mine has 3 x o2 sensors, what does the middle one do?

Hello again :>D

Question edited to add maker and complete the year.
Question moved to model category.

If you have California emissions, then you will have 3 sensors. If you are getting a P0420 code, you can try changing the upstream sensor first. If you still get a P0420 code, then you will have to replace the manifold/catalytic convertor.

How many o2 sensors does a 2008 ford fusion have?

On a straight 4, it will have two, one in front of the catalytic converter and one after the catalytic converter. A V6 will have 4, 2 on each bank.

My database showed two 02 sensors, but, I could be wrong. The 02 sensors are in the exhaust. I looked at info for 2.2L engine.

How many o2 sensors are on ford fusion 08 3.0 liter? Autozone said five 02 sensors

I would have thought 4 but ask them to show you the exploded parts diagram which shows the five 02 sensors on that engine.

Otherwise the Ford dealer parts guys can pull it up on their computer and verify for you.

I need to locate IAT sensor four my 2009 ford

The IAT is integrated with the MAF sensor on the 09 Fusion. The MAF is located near the air box on all three engines. on the driver's side, and will be held to some part of the intake tubing by 2 torx screws. http://media.photobucket.com/image/2009%20Fusion%20MAF/itsamecameron/fusion4cylengineMAF.jpg 2.3L shown, 3.0 and 3.5 should be similar.
