I have a 2000 pontiac grand am gt it will not start i replaced the fuel pump fuel filter an repaired a short in the dash an some of my gagues arent working

How do you know that no fuel is getting to the engine ? Did you check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge ? Did you check for spark at a plug wire ? What short did you have in the dash ? There are videos on youtube on trouble shooting a no start condition .Your instrument cluster is probably bad . You can get a new used one at the nearest auto salvage yard for $20.00 Also if security light is lit on the instrument cluster the vehicle won't start . The anti-theft system on these will disable fuel injectors .

My fuel gauge light is on, and my TCS light is on and my anti-lock brake system is on.

The ABS and traction lights are on the same circuit. You have an ABS failure causing these lights to come on. You will need to scan the ABS system for codes and repair the fault in order for the light to stay out. The fuel light is on a different circuit and therefore will be a seperate issue. If the fuel gague reads correctly and the low fuel light is on, suspect an internal problem with the fuel gague assembly inside the gas tank

Does an xh ute have the same fuel gauge for gas and petrol. When I change to gas my fuel gauge drops to empty????

Don't know the vehicle at all, but perhaps the gas (I assume you mean something like lpg) gague is sharing the same power set up, ie when switch to gas, the power or sensor wires are then redirected elsewhere, so the fuel gague drops off, till returning to petrol.

See this scenario on a couple of lpg cars here in uk. All lpg cars I've seen do not share a gague though.

Poss bad gas,

possibly! if the tanker just filled the underground tanks it mixes up all the debris on the botom of the tanks or it could be water in the gas. if you have a fuel pressure gague then check the fuel pressure alot of gagues have a bleed off hose to get a volume reading if this is something you have then drain about 1/4 to 1/2 of a pop bottle or equivealant into the bottle you will be able to see the water in the botttom of the bottle. either war i would change the fuel filter & clean the throttle body. i hope this helps!

Gas gague not working in 93 gmc sierra

The fuel level gage sending unit is defective, very common problem. The sending unit comes with a new fuel pump and is referred to as a module, also make darn sure you replace the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank, solder and shrink tube the new connector on, DO NOT USE CRIMP CONNECTORS.

Ford escort with backwards fuel gague

its not the pump bro. its probably the floater device that measure how much fuel you still have. most fuel tank uses this.

All gauges..gas,speedometer,temp,odometor...won't work.

the problem might be in the ignition switch(not where the key goes) but what the key switch is connected to. just try this first, when the gagues stop working, hit the steering column behind the key switch and if the gagues start working then replace the ignition switch

Full tank-fuel gague registers empty-need fuel light is on

There is a sending unit in the fuel tank that registers how much fuel there is. It is probably broken, giving you a funny reading on your gauge.
