Engine skips while accelerating
SOURCE: Engine is skipping when accelerating
You only have 4 so better just do a tune up and change the plug and wires, but one at a time so you don't get them crossed when re-installing the new plugs and wire.
Use Platinum plugs since there good for 100,000 miles which mean less maintenance, and double check that the spark plug boots set to the plugs when re-installed.
Run some fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank for about a week to to clean out your fuel system and hope fully the skipping stops.
If your going to get all the goodys at Auto Zone, have them scan the car for any DTC codes since it's free and see if there are other issues that is causing the skipping like a bad signal from the MAP sensor ECT.
Good luck and keep me posted.

This is more than likely the exhaust manifold heat shield. Check around the small bolts that hold the shield to the manifold. It usually cracks in a circle around the head of the bolt. Press on the top and bottom of the shield (WHEN COOL) and rock it. You will see where the shield is cracked. The shield is available as a service part, and is not expensive.

well first you drain the coolant out at the low point on the radiator, that way it is saved if new. then you take off the right front wheel and remove the plastic access cover from behind the wheel to get to that side of the engine. then you take off the serpentine belt and etc. yes you can do this with the engine still in the car. you may want to consider replacing the serpentine belt and tensioner while you are in that area.
