The car sat for several months without being driven, started a few times. When I finally started driving it the check engine light came on and the car just wasn't running right (performance wise) so I took to my uncle (mechanic) He put an additive in it and cleared the code out. The light is back on but the performance issues resolved. I am also having trouble with starting after putting fuel in it. No matter how much fuel I put in it the car hesitates to start and then stalls out. I have to hold my foot on the gas and keep RPM's up for a minute or 2 and then its fine. I can turn the car off and re-start without any problems. Can someone help me out? My uncle is stumped as to what it can be. He does all the maintenance on my car.

semms to be like some of the vapor lines coming from thank to engine might be flooding your engine,
but also locate the fuel pressure regulator at the engine compartment and unplud the vacium hose, if you see any fuel coming out from fuel pressure regulator, or if the vacium hose smeel like fuel, then the regulator is not good.

The thing is your doing the timing belt the water pump is right their with it . it should cost you much more at all besides the cost of the water pump. When doing a timing belt I have a rule that I go by The timing belt/seals =cam , crank , any pulley & tensioner & water pump all get replaced at the same time. I did a t-belt on a Audi A-8 very complex whole front of car has to come off as well, he didnt want to do w-pump & thermostat his thermostat was their as well not even a month later the water pump gave out he had to pay double the price because he didnt want to do it when I had it apart the first time. And make sure mechanic is ase certified . good luck

replace your gas cap and clear codes, then wait and see if light comes back on, if it does you have a more serious problem like a fuel tank leak or a defective fuel tank pressure sensor.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.
