The pump is in the fuel tank. To test short pin 1+2 on the air flow meter connector. Turn the ignition key to run position (2 click) and listen for the whir or hum of the pump.

SOURCE: ecu or fuel pump?

If the car is starting I would tend to believe there is a fuel related issue. There is an easy way to check for fuel pressure at the fuel injection service port. On some cars it may be tricky to find, so consult your Chiltons or other service manual to find it. Most autoparts stores will allow rent/barrow a fuel pressure gauge. Most fuel injected cars require a minimum of 40psi to activate the fuel injectors even if the ECU triggering them. There is also a test light that you be able to purchase at the parts store that can be connected to the fuel injector connection and it will flash to indicate that the ECU is triggering it.
Good luck.

SOURCE: mr2 not starting, no sound from fuel pump

try taking off the air cleaners air duct that goes to the engine, with the throttle open spary some carburator cleaner into the intake. Spaying for about 10 secs. should be enough. then start it up. if it runs you know you don't have any fuel going to the engine and a fuel pump would be a very possible cause, other causes for no fuel would be a fuse, a relay, or a computer related problem. Good Luck

SOURCE: fuel pump won't run unless engine is cranking, but won't start

Are you sure it's running when cranking? It should have come on when key turned on.
This is for camrys up to year '91. It may apply in your '95, also. Check the 7.5 amp ignition fuse and the 15 amp EFI fuse and the EFI main relay, all located in the fuse box next to your battery. There is also the circuit opening relay tied in to fuel pump operation. It is usually found under center of dash. It is usually not the problem, but it is part of the checks for fuel pump operation.
If your car has a " check connector" or "service connector" (also called a fuel pump check connector) under hood on driver's side near the firewall (a little 1 inch cube with a cap on it), then bridge terminals +B and Fp with a jumper wire. Turn key to on (don't start car). The pump should come on. Listen for fuel return noise from the fuel pressure regulator, and verify pressure in hose from the fuel filter. If nothing, check those fuses above. Here is how power runs to pump: Battery to 40 amp main fusible link-to 15 amp EFI fuse-to EFI main relay-to circuit opening relay-to fuel pump-to ground. Ignition switch and the computer (ECU) work the relays to pass power to pump. Hope this helps some, Randy. Good luck.

The relay should be in the engine compartment near the battery.

Changed fuel filter on my daughter 2011 Kia Rio lx now the car wonā€™t start

Could simply be trapped air. Turn the key from OFF to RUN then wait and listen. Dont try to start. You should hear the fuel pump (humming sound) run for a few seconds and then stop. If no humm, no pump, no fuel.

If you hear the fuel pump cycle on/off then turn key OFF and back to ON, wait for pump to cycle to off, and repeat a few more times. Then try to start.

If still no start, then the fuel system may need to be bled

My 96 yukon wil not start. Sounds like it will crank over but won't. It is not the fuel. I changed the ignition coil still won't start.

try spraying some carb cleaner into a vaccum hose and see if it will run. If so then you have ignition but no fuel delivery. If not then you have an ignition problem. make sure you hear the fuel pump hum when you turn the key to the run position. It should run for +/- 5 seconds then shut off. remove gas cap and listen for fuel pump operation through the fill hole. If you can hear the pump then you have a fuel injection issue. If the engine starts and runs for a few seconds then shuts off then you can suspect the crank or cam position sensor. The fuel pump runs through the oil pressure switch which could also be an issue.

My 2000 buick lesabre want start fuel pump comes on when i turn the key i have spark at the coils.checked all fuses. Changed fuel filter but car still won't start its trying to start but just...

It could be the fuel pump. Sometimes you can hear them engage, but they are not pushing enough fuel pressure to run the car. This can be checked.

My dodge dakota truck will not start. It has power we tried to pop the clutch too.

do you mean the truck won`t start and run or do you mean it won`t turn over with the key.if it won`t turn over with the key the you may have a starter problem.if you mean won`t start then it could be the fuel pump not working.with someone cranking the motor you should hear the fuel pump running with the gas cap off and listening at the filler neck.or hear it running listening under the truck at the gas tank.if you don`t hear it then you can hit the tack sharply with your hand or a rubber hammer,it hear the pump start to run then the fuel pump needs replacing.if not check the fuses under the dash and under the hood.if they are good then it may be the pump relay in the relay box under the hood and it should be marked on the box or lid.
