Hi, I have 2001 toyota avalon. In winter, I put the temperature knob of fan (2 near music system) to heat. After that now when I put it back to cool side, I am getting only the hot air from the blower. Both knob shows to cool (blue side) but giving only the hot air. What can be the problem?

You have a broken wire connection between the temperature control knob and the circuit board behind the center dash console. Vibration causes the failure and once the control knob gets loose the solder connection fails.
For someone that knows how to remove the dash unit and can re-solder a couple of new wires this fix should take no more than 1 hour. Make sure that you apply loctite to the heat control knob spindle nut when you re-assemble it.
The dealer quoted me 750 dollars to fix this issue and I found out that it's a common failure for this year. I fixed mine virtually for free but it took some tools and about an hour of my time.

My 87 Celica had the same problem and it was the solder connections on the back of the heater control panel.

check or replace the blower motor resistor. hope this can help.

this is going to sound silly, but check you coolant level... if the level is ok, you will have to check to see that the blend door is operation properly. the blend door is located inside the box on the passenger side of the dash. also, check the switch that lets you go from hot to cold....
