Smog pump removal

smog pumps are not in use. the item is power steering pump. you will need a special puller and installation tool to remove pump.

FAIL, no engine stated, we cant open the hood and look, you must.
and no country stated, some countries use different smog parts.

why ask this out of context, you have symptoms,
you have DTC errors.?
what makes you think there is one, (books, guessing, net rumors)

i have a 2004 and had 3 engines , options
G16B SOHC I4
J20 DOHC I4
H25 V6
all work totally different, (EFI + smog devices_

log in ,look up our engine, see schematic
see all parts related to 02. every detail.

the 2002 has a very large number of 02 , OBD2 DTC errors possible
each has MEANINGS. and tests to find TRUE cause.l

Smog pump? Are you sure that's what is still running?

Yes the smog pump was used on this year and engine. If it is missing you will need all the other parts in the Air Injection system as well.

it is just two bolts and a hose. Really easy swap. Good luck!

No only a defective injector van do this. if the injector is defective the plug on thet clyinder will be black. this will help you define which cylinder is bad and replace the fuel injector on that cylinder. But most likey it is a defective EGR valve casueing your problem.

I have a 2002 Escape V6 w/ 100,000 miles and I just changed the plugs. If you have a V6, you will have to remove the Upper Intake manifold. It's not too bad. You'll new a gasket set from Autozone or NAPA for about $10

on the front of the engine. Water pump is located below alternator on passengers side .
