Mustang convertible top

My 1999 mustang convertible top won't raise up. I set the brake and pushed the button and nothing happens. It used to work just fine and one day it just quit. I haven't checked the fuses because I don't have a manual. Can anyone help me find a manual and give me some solutions, easiest to most indepth on what might be causing this? Thank you for your help.

You don't need a manual to check the fuses 1 at a time. Just doing a visual (or use multimeter) will sometimes let you find a bad fuse. You do know that the top is raised and lowered using small motor located under the hood. Use dianostic code reader to find out who, what, where the problem is. Most readers are free to use at Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, and NAPA.

SOURCE: 1999 Mustang convertible top won't raise....

There is a fuse No.20 (15amp) in the under dash fuse panel and a 25amp circuit breaker in the under hood fuse panel that controls the top.

SOURCE: 2005 PT convertible top won't raise - can top be manually raised?

Check your manual for the location of the top fuse.
Your car left the factory as a hardtop and was converted to a soft top by a Chrysler authorized company so the top fuse(s) may not be with the other fuses.

SOURCE: 2001 Mustang GT convertible won't go up

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is your motor/pump/reservoir combination.
With the top down, fill the reservoir to overflowing with ATF.
Cycle the system a few times and repeat.
Do this till the reservoir will take no more fluid.
Check the lines and cylinders for leaks. The fluid must be going somewhere.
If you replace any lines or cylinders, always do them in pairs.

SOURCE: 2007 ford mustang convertible wont work. Fuses are good, if I push the button the windows roll down and wont go back up.

probably the switches need replacing. converibles have the weathering problem, because they are subject to harsh climate conditions when top down driving.

My 1993 Ford Mustang convertible won't go up.But the motor is coming on.Also it will go down thou

There must be a hydraulic fluid leak somewhere. Check to see if there is oil filler cap on your hydraulic pump located in the trunk compartment. Fill if necessary with just enough fluid to raise the top. The reason it won't go up is cause it is lacking pressure from the low fluid

Top worked fine yesterday but today tried to let down only clicked

It is a hydraulic pump that applies pressure to the 2 hydraulic pistons to raise & lower the top. So, check for something obstructing movement first.

The convertible top:
  • is motor-driven.
  • requires parking brake engaged to complete circuit for operation.
  • is equipped with a back window glass (42006) . The back window glass is permanently attached to the folding top back window curtain (52500) and cannot be opened.

Need to know how to put the top down on 96 mustang dont have manu

First thing to do is put the car in park and then set the parking brake. Next, release the drivers and passenger side handles (located at the top, above your head when you are sitting in the car, where the part of the top meets the windshield) Both handles are black and you simply pull the lever to release the hooks. After both hooks are released, push the button located near the speedometer (should be underneath the speedometer) on the dash and the top motor will engage and begain to retract the top. Hold the button untill the top disapears behing the back seat

Have 1990 ford mustang convertible 4 cyl turn key and nothing happens no click nothing light, wipers power windows radio all turn on and work pulled starter and cellunoid and they are fine battery is...

Check for fusible links close to the battery, they may be just wires or they may look like giant fuses. Use an electrical tester to see if current is passing through them. Also you can try using a screwdriver to connect the main bttery power at the starter to the cellunoid to check that it will start. Just make sure it is in park or neutral and the emergency brake is on.
