2008 EOS fuel door wont open - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

FLAT SURFACE. ENGINE WARM AND TURNED OFF FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES.OPEN HOOD.THE OIL DIPSTICK IS THE YELLOW ROUND SHAPED.THE OIL LEVEL MUST BE BETWEEN MIN AND MAX LEVEL PREFERABLY AT THE TOP OF THE GRINDINGS OFTHE DIPSTICK..

open trunk. remove right cover of tail light screw. inside u will be able to see a black cable. pull backwards thelid must release........

It will say F/LID OPEN in the diagram, and will be 15A.

either stuck or release cable is broke......could be broke at release..

I would change the struts - the opening motor can't handle the excessive weight.

InInside the drivers door in the back of the storage compartment is the switch to open the fuel door.

There should be a manual pull probably inside the trunk at or near the area of the fuel door.
If you have a manual, the location would be shown in it.

I assume it has a push button for the fuel door. If so then look at the latch that the fuel door grabs on to see if it is broken or stuck on open. If stuck push on it a couple of times and spay it with penetrating oil to loosen. There is other possibilities but let's start there for now. I hope this is helpful.
