Why does my engine sound like a loud vacume cleaner, then want to stall out?

It started off only once in a while, but now it happens as soon as we start the engine. A really loud noise almost sounds like a vacume cleaner, a loud one, will start, mostly when we come to a stop light or stop sign, then once we start to push the gas it feels like it wants to die.

SOURCE: grinding noise coming from under driver floor board

You have a u-joint in the rear drive shaft that is no good..Look under the truck at every one and look for rust next to the caps..Also look at the mid shift bearing that is in the center of the rear drive shaft. It is bolted to the frame and the drive shaft goes through the center of it..Hope this helps you and that is almost 100% the problem I promise..Have a great night....

2001 Honda Odyssey randomly stalls

I had this happen once on an older car. Mine was caused by a loose carburetor. I tried everything and no luck then one day I put my hand on the carburetor to brace myself as I looked at the lower engine and I felt it move.

while your car is likely EFI, you could have an air leak along the intake. Get a can of brake cleaner spray and with the engine running, spray all the connection points and if the idle suddenly slows or speeds up, you found the leak.

then just tighten the connection and try again. If it does t change, you need to change the gasket.

hopefully this helps.

Loud ticking noise when first staring, engine stalls sometimes when starting it unless I hold the gas pedal down

The TPS would be what I would do had that problem once myself solved the problem. as for the ticking noise sounds like a lifter is bleeding down as long as the noise goes away you will be ok. But may I suggest that if you are going to keep the vehicle for awhile longer you might want to have a set of lifters put in it.

Engine cuts out when foot brake applied

sounds to me like a severe vacuum issue...pump the brake pedal quickly while in park if engine start to stall or does stall then take carb cleaner and spray vacuum lines and around intake near gasket engine will rev or die out when you hit a leak...very careful inspection of lines if no money for carb cleaner..or it could be brake booster is bad...loud air sound when pushin or holding pedal would indicate and issue there

My 87 chevy custom runs but stalls once i try driving, what could it be?

I would suspect a vacum leak or bad fuel pump. take a can of carborator cleaner and spray around vacum hoses, if engine revs up or dies out you just found a vacum leak

When i turn on my heat my 2004 trailblazer stalls

if this happens while the defrost of ac is turned on, it could be a seized ac compressor which will cause the serpentine belt to squeal and drag making the engine sometimes stall. if it happens with the ac off and the selector on say the floor, or dash vents, the issue could be a bad alternator and battery. this is confirmed when the blower motor engages and the lights dim and then the truck goes dead.

My car stalls constantly

There are two things i would check.First look for vacum leaks.Check all vacum lines,if you dont find any bad spots try spraying brake cleaner around intake manifold and listen for a increase in idle speed. The next thing to check would be the intake air sensor. This sensor tells the ecm what temperature the air is and richens the fuel mixture.
