Like dude said its the starter relay usually located on the drivers side wheel well or close too it the same happened to me it clicked/eventually started than one day just clicks no start than I replaced the relay and no problems but check everything loose connections could be there too
If what you say say is true-prove the click with a good power source like another vehicle attached with jumper cables-then bite the bullet and replace the starter motor

chek pick up coil in distibutor for a/c signal with a voltmeter . you should have voltage signal when cranking . this is very common problem for dodge.if no signal output replace distributor . if o.k. check the main shot off relay . check for 12 v at ignition coil while cranking if no 12v change relay.good luck

check the starter relay or the ignition moduale which is located behind the distributer

Sounds like a bad battery, or bad/loose connection there. After the battery is replaced, or disconnected, it will need a little bit to relearn how to idle.

From your description, the solenoid is defective. The key (start) circuit provides power to the small terminal on the solenoid. With the key off, try shorting the small terminal of the solenoid to the large terminal that has the heavy battery cable attached. If no action, short the small terminal to the solenoid mounting bolt. One of these two actions should operate the solenoid. If nothing, the solenoid coil is open--replace the solenoid. Make sure the frame-to-engine ground-strap is intact and connected tightly on both ends.
