Oil light flickers and overheating

Sorry to say the oil light may be for low oil pressure, not necessarily low oil level. If the oil pressure is low, you are wearing out the bearings and engine parts at a very fast pace.

Why does the oil light turn on when rpm drops below 1000

Oil light pops on at low rpm because at a low rpm, your engine is not running fast enough to maintain full pressure. this is because either you have an oil leak, or defective oil pressure switch.

I have replaced the front crankshaft seal 4 times and they keep blowing out causing major oil leak.

First check the compression on the cylinders. If they are low then the rings are bad. This will cause major oil leaks all over the engine. The only other thing would be that the main bearings are bad. to much slop and blowing the seal.

My oil light came on for my 1999 chevy cavalier, it was a quart low,I added it and it was fine but a few days later the oil light came on again

You must have an oil leak . And if you are looseing that much oil that fast its got to be a main bearing seal likely the rear . Get a good size peice of cardboard and put it under the vehicle near where the transmission meats the engine . Do it fast after you park it so the engine will still have some pressure and see where its leaking . You could not possibably burn that much oil in a few days no matter how worn the engine is . But the first step it to locate where its leaking from

Oil Leaks I have an 2003 Mits. Galant GTZ...with117K miles. My question is, i've noticed oil spots on the ground under the car, a burning smell when i've driven along with smoke. In addition to a squealing...

the seal will gradually start leaking more as time goes by and needs to be replaced, but in the mean time if u keep the oil full and it does not go below low line on dipstick you can drive with no engine damage. sometimes adding oil leak additive to oil will help , using a slightly heavier oil during warm weather will often help reduce oil loss and give you more time to get enough money to replace seal. If engine gets too low on oil it will cause major engine damage.

I have bmw 318I the oil indicator for motor appear when use break

The engine is low on oil. but assuming it is not.
The engine is either idling to low .
The engine oil pressure itself is low. The engine oil pressure switch is leaking or not reading the oil pressure in the car.
I assume there is not knocking noise from the engine.
I would check for any oil leaks on the engine .
IF there are no leaks , I would change the oil pressure sesnor or switch first .
This could lead into major engine work.

Good luck
