Security has been activated. Do a relearn. You have to have it on a battery charger as it takes about 30 minutes to do. Relearn is= turn the key on (don't start) for ten minutes. Turn it of for 30 seconds. Do this three times. After the third time it should have learn the new key. And will start. If you mess up at any time, you will have to start over from the beginning.

SOURCE: Van keeps running after turning off ignition and removing key

I had the same problem in my 2003 Chevy Tracker. I replaced the ignition switch, not the problem. Replace neutral safety switch, not the problem. The problem was battery acid had leaked onto the wires at the right side of the battery tray and melted and fused them together. Had to get someone to separate each of the 20-30 wires, removed to damaged section and rewire them and tape them. And now the vehicle no longer runs in the off position.

How to find an electrical disturbance in 1998 ford expedition

Normally this condition is the result of a poor body ground connection. Testing for this can be deceiving. At the static(nothing on) condition, testing can show a good ground. However when a circuit is excited, it has a determined resistance and a set current flow. If the ground connection to this or a branch circuit is loose, corroded, or broken wire. This will allow just enough connection to show as being good, but not good enough to complete the circuit with the required amount of connection when energized.

Engine dies right after starting

The wire from your solenoid valve goes directly to your ignition switch there is no fuse in line. The ignition switch contacts or the plug just behind the switch probably has a bad contact. The switch is easily replaceable, just one screw that holds it in place. They did have a tendency to wear out. Don't forget to check the plug behind the switch, and make sure that there is no immoblizer fitted that can give you the problem.

Question:
Did you replace the ignition switch or the KEY AND CYLINDER?

These are the only 2 things that can make your engine turn off when you release the ignition switch after starting the engine.

I hope this helps you.
