I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent and the air con gets cool but not cold and it struggles to keep up on a hot day. Does anyone have any idea what this might be i have had the gas checked and all is good been told that it might be the TX valve or the a/c thermostat no sure, any help would be great.

Check pressures in the system at 1500 rpm suction side (blue) should be about 35lbs. high side (red)should be no more than 350. radiator fan must run constantly with ac on.
if all else checks out, the blend door inside the heater case might not be closing off the heater core allowing heat to sneak by and reduce the cooling effect.

00-30-001 2000 ACCENT DMTL DIAGNOSIS: DTC CODES P1401, P1402 AND P1403

p1402 - dm-tl air pump motor is shorted or disconnected.

2000 model year accent is equipped with a new enhanced evaporative emission system. this new system is capable of measuring leaks as small as 0.020" diameter. the new system pressurizesthe evaporative emission system with a diagnostic module for tank leakage (dm-tl), while the previous model's system appliedengine vacuum through the purge valve to detect system leaks.

service information
vehicles that have the check engine light illuminated and have dtc p1401, p1402 and p1403 stored in the ecm should have their electrical systems diagnosed related to the appropriate dtc. these codes are not related in any way to an evaporative emission system leak. the conditions that set the diagnostic codes areas follows:
p1401 - dm-tl air pump motor current draw is higher or lower than expected (normal = 17-36 ma).
p1402 - dm-tl air pump motor is shorted or disconnected.
p1403 - dm-tl changeover valve is shorted or disconnected

p1402 - dm-tl air pump motor is shorted or disconnected.
p1403 - dm-tl changeover valve is shorted or disconnected

perform the suggested repair
1. inspect for water in the dmtl by removing the 90° air inlet elbow and looking into the air chamber. if water or corrosion is present, replace the dm-tl p/n 31440-25500; air filterp/n 31453-25500; and pipe assembly p/n 31454-25500if corrosion is in the pipe. see detailed instructions on page3 for air filter replacement.
2. inspect for underbody coating sprayed into connector m52 at dm-tl. if underbody coating is present on the male or female connector, spray with electrical contact cleaner to remove the undercoating.

air filter (dm-tl) replacement instructions

  1. disconnect the 90° elbow from the top of the dmtl and insert a clean rag into either the elbow or thedmtl inlet connector.
  2. disconnect the dmtl electrical connector.
    1. disconnect the 2 hoses at the front of the canister (caution: silicone hoses tear/puncture easily).
    2. remove canister assembly and dm-tl as a unit (3 mounting nuts).
    3. disconnect the 2 hoses from the metal transfer pipes.
    4. remove the canister, air filter, and metal tube assembly from the canister protector by removing the 3 mounting nuts.
    5. disconnect the hose at the air filter.
    6. remove the air filter mounting nut and remove the air filter.
    7. install a new air filter.
    8. reassemble in reverse order.

SOURCE: hyundai accent stops running after heats up

I had the exact smae problem and threw aaway a ton of money on bad "guesses" at what was wrong. The actual fix was replacing the crank shaft position sensor for 50 or 60 bucks. Swapped out bad for good and cars has run great every day since.

SOURCE: Why doesn't the heater blow hot air?

If your "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light is on, you need to have that checked out first.
If not, the next thing you should check is your engine coolant level. (Antifreeze) If the coolant level is low, the engine coolant does not circulate through the heater core and the the heater doesn't work. The coolant level could be low for a number of reasons including a leaky hose, water pump, or head gasket. In any case, if it is found to be low, you need to find out why.
If the coolant level is OK then the thermostat function needs to be checked to make sure that the engine is reaching operating temperature.
If all of the above checks out OK, then the heater control valve and/or the blend air door in the HVAC housing needs to be checked for proper operation. (NOTE: some cars are not equipped with a heater control valve)

SOURCE: Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

2004 Hyundai Accent would not start after it had warmed up. Subsequently it would not start at all but the valve cover blew off.

That sounds like a timing/ cooling system issue. The coolant sensor would adjust the timing etc. Your tech would have to scan the car & check the live readings (HOT & COLD) & check the emissions. Put all the pieces together & solve the puzzle
