The Internet, though, has a large number of web sites where
you can buy service manuals and schematics from bookstores,
publishers, and other collectors. Here is just a sampling of
what sites are out there:
Remove the center grille section with the chev emblem. It held in with clips. Then you'll see two slide pins behind the headlight housing. Pull those, and remove te housing to access the bulb behind it.
Hope this helps, James Booth
It is between the grille and the radaitor directly behind the chevy bowtie (chevy emblem) in the center of the grille. You will need to remove the grille to access it.
They twist out of their socket and unplug. If they cannot be accessed when on the vehicle it will be a paint. Either remove things you can in the engine bay or you will have to remove the grill. there will be four 7mm bolts on top one above the GMC emblem the rest is clipped to the vehicle as well as the trim just below the grille carefull not to break tabs on that trim piece. Once the grill is off its simple unbolt headlight and change away. Steve
The easiest way is to clear some of the cable casing away from the cable on the inside of the truck and then pull the exposed cable with a pair of vice grips. If it's broken further in. You can try hooking the cable casing through the grill with something pretty rigid (similar to a fire poker but not that big) and cleaning the cable casing off. If you can get the hood up enough there are 4- 7mm bolts on top facing forward and one by the Chevy emblem to ease the grill out and try to squeeeze in there to pull the lever manually.
There is an entire section in the Manual as to how to change the headlights. It involves dismantling the grill of the car. There are about six black pegs that need to be pulled out that attach the grill to the car. Pull the grill up and towards you. The silver trim that the Chevy emblem is on will pop off. Then on each light there are two screws that need to be removed on the top, and one hex screw on the side about half-way down the light. You can then pull the light up and out towards you to change the bulb.
