Got check engine light & cot code p0001 - 2002 Ford Focus

Question edited for clarity. It is P zero zero zero one, not 'noughts'.

P0001 is the OBD-II generic code describing an issue with the circuit which runs from your engine computer (ECM) to your fuel pressure regulator on your fuel injection rail on your engine. The ECM regulates your fuel pressure from your fuel pump going to your engine through this circuit.

Look on the fuel rail for a loose or disconnected wire. P0001 is an open fuel volume control circuit and testing the system requires an advanced scanner and a DVOM. Serious engine damage can occur if the engine leans out it's the equivalent of turning up the oxygen on a torch it gets super hot. I hope this helps.Take care.

code p0001refers to fuel volume regulator control--circuit open===causes --wiring --regulator control solenoid
code p 0002 refers to same unit ---circuit range/ performance===causes --same as as for p0001
check for loose /dirty harness connections
replace fuel pressure regulator

However, this may not actually be correct on your vehicle, as seemingly error code P0001 is not used by many manufacturer's.. it's a 'generic' code.

What size motor,and transmission?

Hi there:

A code P0001 which is for a Fuel Regulator Circuit, is for a diesel engine; a gas engine does not have an electrically controlled regulator, thus this code does not apply to this vehicle. I would suggest taking it to a parts store, for a second opinion.

iM GUESSING THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE NEEDS TO BE CHECKED EITHER WEAK FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PRESSURE REULATOR IS PROBABLY AT FAULT
