My 1993 Ford Explorer XLT will not go into reverse, it will roll backwards if pushed in neutral but it will not roll in reverse if pushed in reverse.

If your 1993 Ford Explorer XLT is not engaging in reverse, but will roll backwards if pushed in neutral, there are a few things that could be causing the issue:
  1. Transmission fluid: Check the transmission fluid level and condition. Low or dirty transmission fluid can cause issues with shifting and engagement.
  2. Transmission linkage: The linkage that connects the transmission shifter to the transmission may be damaged or misaligned. Check the linkage for any signs of damage or misalignment.
  3. Transmission solenoid: The transmission solenoid that controls the engagement of reverse gear may be malfunctioning. A diagnostic scan tool can be used to check for any error codes related to the solenoid.
  4. Internal transmission issues: It's possible that there is an internal issue with the transmission, such as a damaged gear or worn clutch. A transmission rebuild or replacement may be necessary in this case.
It's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the issue, as transmission repairs can be complex and require specialized knowledge and equipment. They can properly diagnose the issue and recommend the best course of action to get your vehicle back in working order.

When I start to drive my ford explorer the over drive light O/D come on and start to flashing. How I can fix the problem?

he overdrive off light flashing indicates that a problem with your
transmission has been detected. Take it to the dealer or a transmission
shop and get it checked out. If you continue to drive the Explorer with
the O/D OFF light flashing you can possibly damage the transmission.

Ford has issued a TSB on this problem. Has to do with a transmission oil pump defect and repair procedure.
Article No.: 97-22-4
Date: 10/27/97
Transmission - A4LD, 4R44E/4R55E, 5R55E - Torque Converter Slip - Diagnostic Trouble Code (Dtc) 628 Or P0741 Stored In Memory
Ford:
1985 to 1993 Mustang
1987 to 1988 Thunderbird
Lincoln-Mercury:
1988 Cougar
Light Truck:
1985 to 1990 Bronco II
1985 to 1997 Ranger
1987 to 1997 Aerostar
1991 to 1997 Explorer
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may experience excessive torque converter slippage, torque converter not engaging, or Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 628 or P0714 stored in memory. This may be caused by damage to the fluid pump support seal and/or to the groove on the pump where the seal is located.
ACTION:
Inspect the fluid pump seal for damage. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Follow normal diagnostic procedures as listed in the appropriate Service Manual.
2. Inspect the fluid pump support for damage. If damaged, also inspect the fluid pump support seal groove on the pump.
3. If the groove is damaged, replace the pump.
4. If the groove is not damaged, replace the fluid pump support seal with a redesigned Seal (F77Z-7L323-AA). Refer to Figure 1.
5. Do not replace the torque converter unless it is damaged or fails the criteria listed in the appropriate Service Manual and/or refer to TSB 96-26-12.

Where is the transfer case located, to drain and refill transmission fluid, on a 1993 Ford Explorer 4X4?

It is located under the truck, it is attached to the back side of the transmission, the rear drive shaft goesinto it. to drain it there is a plug on the bottom end of it, usually above the skid plate. to refill it there is another plug above the drain and to the right.

The transmission is not engaging

You do n not provide much detail so unable to really provide advise but if it is an automatic transmission check your fluid level. If it is a manual transmission, check the clutch pedal freeplay.

Will not change gear until you have done about 2 miles. 1993 ford explorer 4ltr v6 left hand drive ( eddie bouer )

How many miles? Get the transmission serviced. Get the filter changed and get new fluid put in. Ford transmissions arent that great, but try getting the transmission serviced. I got a ford taurus that was said to have a bad trans. I changed the filter and put a new filter in. Voila, a 500 dollar car turned into a 3000 dollar car. : )
