See if any garages or auto parts stores will do an error code check. O'Reillys in my town does it for free and usually takes less than 15 minutes. One of the sensors seems to be getting a bad reading and the error code will tell you which one.

SOURCE: 1999 Ford Explorer Turn Signals do not always work.

it is the turn signal flasher that is bad, it is a solid state electronic flasher, the old ones where mechanical and either worked or not, the solid state ones can work and then stop, see it allot, the flasher is a small plastic square, like a relay but a little bigger, it is under the dash to the rear of the dash (closer to the firewall) on the left of driver, points down.

SOURCE: 1999 f150 turn signals and brake lights out. High mast still work

The signal lights work through a relay but the brake lights work through the signal switch, if both are out I think you'll find the problem is the signal switch.

I have a 1999 dodge caravan. Passenger sign turn signal flashes for a short period & goes solid. Reverse light & brake light work just fine. Multifunction switch, light sockets, light assembly...

Sounds like the relay is burning out. When the lights stop flashing does the indicator on the dash light up and stay on and/or does the exterior lights light up and stay on? If the indicator light is staying on then you have a wiring problem to the lights or you have the wrong bulb/ bulbs. If the exterior lights stay on it is a bad relay or power to the relay.

Rear turn signal and hazard light don't flash (left side only)

The rear left turn signal bulb must be replaced immediatly before it melts the light socket, if it has'nt yet. Also please verify that the correct light bulb is being installed. because even though many bulbs look the same they are not identical. Installing the wrong bulb can be the begining of many, many problems in the particular circuit

Turn signals flash sometimes other times they just light up

replace flasher, or switch with emergency flasher to test.. Should be in with fuses or in that area.

Flasher

Start by checking to make sure you have the correct size bulbs installed. If they are correct then replace the flasher relay. It is located Front seating area, driver side, under dash, mounted on top of brake pedal. If that does not cure the fast flashing, you may have a bad ground connection or the turn signal combination switch may be bad.
