Shawn Villalpando replaces a transmission in a saturn S-series. ... If you remove the pass side you'll need to support the enginebetter. ... Shawn, Have you ever replace a 2003 vue automation with a manual transmission?
The
Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual
transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically
controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control
Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or
other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a
record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this,
like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor
for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read
these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a
special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform
the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s)DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED
THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT
MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for
correct spec for your make and engine type.
I have had 4 saturns. every unhappy saturn owner i ever met, and that was lots of them, always had automatic transmissions. every happy saturn owner i knew, including me, always had manual transmissions. given that there are no more dealers, and no more experienced saturn mechanics; if you can, do yourself a favor and get a manual. I passed off my last saturn to a girlfriend and let me tell you when you take one to a GM dealer they look at it as though it were a spaceship.
if your check eng light is on have it checked out lot of times it will not be a major repair just a faulty solenoid witch is a lot less to replace than a overhaul good luck
It's a closed case. I don't have one either and I have a 2004. I am also having big tranny problems. There is a class action lawsuit for 2004 and 2005 Saturn Vues because of tranny problems, it won't change gears. Already had the torque converter changed once at 30,000 mi. and caseing cracked twice. Now it is effecting my engine and that is now making noise. Wen the tranny kicks into gear it makes the car jump, it's an auto tranny. Good luck, I would never buy another.
This code is set when there is a variance in speed from the transmission input and output shafts. It can be a simple sensor issue or a more complex internal problem. There are several recalls for VUE transmissions but I do not think yours falls under this problem. Yours sounds more like an internal belt issue which Saturn has a technical bulletin for as shown below. This usually requires replacement of the case cover and filter and sometimes the belt depending on the damage. This is the bulletin that has to do with your code; Bulletin No.: 04-07-30-024E Date: June 09, 2006 TECHNICAL Subject: No Movement in Drive or Reverse with or without DTC P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, or P1882 (Replace Case Cover Assembly and Filter) Models: 2002 Saturn VUE - Retrofitted with a 2003 or 2004 VT25E (VTi) transaxle (RPO M16/M75) 2003-2004 Saturn ION 2003-2005 Saturn VUEwith VT25E (VTi) transaxle (RPO M16/M75) Supercede: This bulletin is being revised to add additional Correction information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-07-30-024D (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle). Condition Some customers may comment on the vehicle not moving in the "D" (Drive) or "R" (Reverse) gear selection positions. In many cases, the transaxle will also produce an audible grind or whine noise when attempting to operate in drive or reverse. The Service Engine Soon (SES) telltale may be illuminated with DTCs P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, or P1882 set. Cause This condition may occur when the VT25E transaxle belt has malfunctioned.
Replace the transmission and sell it...These vues 2003 and 2004 with the varitrack trannies were junk you may be eligible for a class action lawsuit if you live in a state where they have filled it.
