Usually the first thing to inspect when the blower fan stops working is the fuses to see if any are blown. Locate the 10A cluster fuse or the 25A HVAC fuse in your car manual, and examine them to determine if they need replacing. The car owner's manual will tell you where to find the fuses that are connected to the heat and/or air conditioning. On the interior fuse panel of the car, a 30 amp fuse is labeled "Heater" or "HVAC."
Bad Blower MotorIf the fan only works on setting number 3 or 4, or just on the highest setting, it is most likely that your blower motor is failing and is about to die. Use a voltmeter to test the amount of voltage at the blower motor connector with your ignition on and AC running. If it reads 12V, the motor needs replacing.Automatic Climate Control SystemAnother thing that causes the blower fan to malfunction is the Automatic Climate Control System (ACCS). If the ACCS's settings are off, it may cause the fan to stop working. If it is the climate control on the car, typically it is a bad thermostat or electrical circuit that is the culprit. hope this helps, James Booth
check the blower motor fuse, then you can turn truck on put the speed control to high. if fuse is blown replace fuse, if the speed control only works on high, the blower motor resistor needs replacing. It is on passenger side under glove box in close proximity to the blower motor. The fuse is under the hood on driver side. the cover should say fuses/relay on the top of cover, on most ford vehicles you will need to look in the owners manual for the position of the fuse.
CHECK TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO COOLANT FAN AND COOLANT FAN THERMO SWITCH.THERMO SWITCH LOCATED BOTTOM OF RADIATOR ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE.IF POWER GOING TO THERMO SWITCH THEN SWITCH IS FAULTY.IF NO POWER GOING TO THERMO SWITCH OR COOLING FAN.CHECK LARGE FAN FUSE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND YOU HAVE FUSE 16 IN FUSE HOLDER.IF FUSES GOOD YOU HAVE SHORT IN THE FAN WIRE OR FAULTY FAN CONTROL MODULE.SHAKE FAN WIRES IF FAN WORKS PROBLEM IN THE FAN WIRES YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE WIRES..
so does the fan turn on or not and there is a blower moter resester you can check that controls the fan speed when you select on the switch its usualy mounted next to the fan.
I WOULD CHECK FUSE -16- 10 AMP FUSE CHECK FUSE- 3 -30AMP FUSE AND CHECK FUSE - 8 - 30AMP FUSE CHECK ALL 3 FUSES THEY GO TO FAN CONTROL MODULE.I WOULD CHECK THEM FIRST BEFORE BUYING ANOTHER FCM. IF FAN CONTROL MODULE BAD YOU WILL GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE ECM WOULD WARN YOU ITS FAULTY.
The fuse for heater/ac fan is number 36.30 amp located end of dash
If this is ok,you need to replace heater control module behind heater controls.Save money buy haynes manual, check e bay
Automatic climate control or manual ? blower motor control processor , probably . or the blower motor , or the HVAC control module etc.... All these are just guesses , without testing the electrical circuits . Did you check the BLOWER fuse 40amp located in the under hood fuse / relay box And the HVAC /ECAS fuse 10amp in the under hood fuse box ? Plus HVAC I fuse 10amp located in the I/P fuse box .
