When replacing the fuel filter how do i bleed the air out.

Petrol filter will need checking for leaks after replacement but not need bleeding.

A diesel filter does need some special attention. Early systems with a conventional diesel injection pump need bleeding if the facility to do so is provided. Lots of systems weren't fitted with hand priming pumps and in that case the filter had to be prefilled before or after fitting by whatever means could be devised. Lots of modern vehicles are fitted with hand priming pumps that ease the task tremendously and such pumps are available in the aftermarket for retrofitting - it is an excellent investment of time and money.

A very few diesel vehicles were fitted with an in-tank pump that will automatically prime the fuel system.

How to bleed injector pump on isuzu nkr pick up

These are self bleeding so if diesel is getting to the pump it won't need bleeding. If you still feel the need to bleed the system then loosen one injector pipe turn the engine until you see diesel coming tighten again it should fire up. If you have a good flow of diesel coming from the filter to the pump and diesel at the injector pipe then your pump pressure may be low. To check remove any injector reconnect the pipe to it with the injector end where you can see it. Turn the engine with the starter a few times the diesel should be making a mist. Wear eye protection for this test

Diesel pump replaced - do not start

IF you have steel lines to the injectors then crack the injector nuts and turn over until the fuel drips from the nuts. Check that you connected the stop solenoid at the pump as it will not allow start until it receives power from the ignition. Bleed any bleed screws on the pump

How to bleed a diesel bus engine

there will be a small hand pump either on the diesel pump or on the filter. bleed the filter out first and then open the bleed screws on the pump and pump until you get straight fuel., The pump may requiring unscrewing the handle/knob first so that you can move it up and down to pump. When finished remember to re screw it back down. crack the injector lines and turn engine over until you get drips of fuel from the nuts. continue to turn over the engine while tightening the nuts and it should start before you have finished with the nuts.

My 2002 chev. diesel truck turns over but wont start, new filter

anytime you change the filter in a diesel you have to bleed the air out of the fuel system. The pump won't auto bleed the fuel system for you. every place in the fuel system that has a flare type connection needs to be bleed, start at the connection closest to the tank, loosen the connection and then crank the engine until you see diesel fuel drips from that connection. Tighten the connection while the engine is still cranking. Move to the next connection that is going toward the engine. Continue on in that manner toward the engine until you reach the injector pump/injector. Once you reach the injector pump be VERY aware that the fuel is at VERY high pressure. Do NOT put your body parts in the stream of high pressure diesel fuel. It could kill or injure you! Once you bleed all the way to the injector pump/ injector, the truck SHOULD start. Do not bleed after the injector pump because of the pressure involved, it is WAY too dangerous.

Good luck!

Ford galaxy 2007 ran out diesel an would not start afterwards tried everthink can u advise me please

Hi James, If any diesel vehicle runs out of fuel it is required to 'bleed' out any air that has entered the system. Have a look on top of the diesel fuel filter housing and there should be a bleeding nipple. It will usually be a ten millimeter or sometimes an eleven. Loosen that until when you pump the plunger on top of the housing, clear diesel passes out. Pump several times, as maybe for the first five or six times the air wont be expelled. Once all the air has been expelled lock the bleeding nipple closed and after preheating crank and start....

(TOYOTA SURF 1990 TURBO DIESEL) No diesel coming out of fuel pump

Fill your fuel filter all the way up and take precaution not to get any air into pump. Try this several times. Once you get air into some pumps it can be very hard to bleed it off. There should be some way to bleed. Look on pump for bleeder.
