SOURCE: Car idles too high and dies

The later 80's accords have a problem with idling being to high at start up, even when the ambient air temp does not warrant it. I have had a 86 and now an 87 accord and both did that. I pretty much deal with it, being as you cant hardly replace indiv carb parts. Adjusting the idle will do nothing to stop it either. I took my 86 to a shop when I still had it and he fixed it, but I cant remember what all he did. I know he drilled a couple small holes in the choke plate. I think that the thermowax valve is bad, but again, you cannot find just a thermowax valve or anybody who knows what it is. Replacement carb in my area is about $450. Like I said, you might just have to learn to live with a high idle at start up.

SOURCE: The car is idling rough. Acceration Slugglish

sounds like you have a egr that is stuck open
remove the egr valve clean it and see if that helps
of not replace it should improve the idling

probably the IAC, not usually the TPS, have you replaced the fuel filter? it could be a problem with the new wires, yes they may be new, but there is always a chance it is faulty, kind of sounds like a misfire. It could also be the spark plugs. or possibly you have them plugged the number 1 wire into the wrong spot on the distributor

You never guess at anything
You learn the systems on your vehicle, test, then replace, only if a part fails a test
You replaced a very expensive converter,WHY?
PO300,you forget
You do however work on the PO301 thru PO306 misfire codes.
Bad coil pack,module,etc
Don't go putting in spark plugs, they never misfire.

Car stalls but starts back up

It had a new cap and rotar and plug wires put on from the people I bought the car from .People told me it started having this problem after they installed the new parts they bought at Autozone so I went and purchased the factory wires ,and dist.cap from a reputable parts store and replaced them and bingo ,no more problem. When buying ignition parts do not go cheap and buy from Autozone.

The crankshaft position sensor may be the cause of the problem, or your timing belt skipped a tooth. Hope it's the sensor.
