SOURCE: 2004 Jeep GC limited stalls ONLY in reverse

you have to be careful that it is not the safety neutral switch.since stall means different things to different people,it is hard to tell exactly what is the issue.if the safety neutral switch, which is wired to the start and ignition circuits is bad,it could kill the engine.
jack up the vehicle and look for bad or shorted wires or connectors before doing anything else.
the other thing is how it behaves with no load on it. put a floor jack under the rear differential and raise it just enough for the wheels to be off the ground a couple inches.put it into reverse with no load and see if the wheels turn in 2wd mode.

SOURCE: Where Are The sensor Banks On The 2004 GC

Grand Cherokee oxygen sensor locations for 4.0 and 4.7 engines

Four wires (circuits) are used on each O2 sensor:

  • 12–volt feed circuit for the sensor heating element
  • Ground circuit for the heater element
  • Low-noise sensor return circuit to the PCM
  • Input circuit from the sensor back to the PCM to detect sensor operation

O2S Sensor removal Never apply any type of grease to the oxygen sensor electrical connector, or attempt any soldering of the sensor wiring harness.
WARNING: THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, EXHAUST PIPES AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER(S) BECOME VERY HOT DURING ENGINE OPERATION. ALLOW ENGINE TO COOL BEFORE REMOVING OXYGEN SENSOR.
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect O2S pigtail harness from main wiring harness.
3. If equipped, disconnect sensor wire harness mounting clips from engine or body.
CAUTION: When disconnecting sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on wire going into sensor.
4. Remove O2S sensor with an oxygen sensor removal and installation tool.

02S Sensor installation
Threads of new oxygen sensors are factory coated with anti-seize compound to aid in removal. DO NOT add any additional anti-seize compound to threads of a new oxygen sensor.
1. Install O2S sensor. Tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N·m) torque.
2. Connect O2S sensor wire connector to main wiring harness.
3. If equipped, connect sensor wire harness mounting clips to engine or body. When Equipped: The O2S pigtail harness must be clipped and/or bolted back to their original positions on engine or body to prevent mechanical damage to wiring.

Window went down, then quit working

try pulling up the window by hand
the window may have come off its tracks

if you cannot pull the window up because there is too much resistance to lift then you have to diagnose the motor

start with fuses and relays first

Interior lights stay on and all power windows inop

I had the same problem.....there is a rubber boot that covers the wires going from your door to the body of the car.... the heavier gage wires eventually crack from the opening and closing of the door....you need to cut the rubber and get to the wires inside and splice them back together....the first time i had this problem my windows did not work...then a few months later my interior lights would not go out....different wire this time ...easy fix....

Hi all,
suppose you have worked out your little problem. I have just been experiencing the same thing with my 2004 GC ltd. Windows, mirrors, etc not working and interior light staying on. Took it to the shop and they re soldered the wire (behind the door panel) that had come off. Cheap problem really.
