When I tried to back the Chevy G 20 1988 van the other day ,it would not hardly back up. Goes forward just fine. Could it be a vaccum hose or modular or what can I do to fix it that won't cost a lot? My husband has Stage 4 cancer and we need our van to go places. Thanks, Pat

TAPPING NOISE, NOW IT WON'T GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND ACTS LIKE TRANSMISSION WON'T ENGAGE TO DRIVE

If it is an automatic transmission, first check the fluid level. If it is low, fill it up and try it again. If the level is fine, then there is a bigger issue and you should seek a professional's help.

1990 Cadillac Allante - Tried starting car, and nothing. When this happened before, dealer told me to turn key forward for an amount of time, then turn it back, then forward again. Can't remember how...

They probably told you to turn the key forward to the RUN position and wait 10 minutes until the SECURITY light goes out on your dash. If your vehicle continues to do this, it is most likely caused by a defective ignition tumbler. It is having a hard time recognizing your key and will not allow the engine to start. If you can get it running again, I would recommend getting the ignition lock cylinder replaced.

I recently tried the DIY service and repair manuals from a website and it actually helped me repair transmission problem in my jcb 3cx site-master. It would'nt move forward or reverse, engine was good both solenoids for forward and reverse worked, but still couldn't diagnose the problem.
I don't have much technical knowledge but I just followed it step-wise, and now it works perfect! covers wiring,
codes, diagrams, torque specs, PCV, everything
got it from www.reliable-store.com
